>>287155037What a question.
>take a 10/10 show and premise and girl>add LITERAL TANUKI SHITwaots. waoty. perhaps even waotd.
I wished it had stayed about yachi learning to deal with small imperfections, and maybe throw in the occasional foreign alien guest. But it gets a little too zany when the tanuki family show up.
>>287159600I think the first few weeks as her maintenance technician I'd get carried away with testing her sexual functions in debug mode. But I think eventually I'd wonder if she would actually choose a partner with her basic programming or merely submit to demands under the right circumstances. I might talk to her outside of debug mode with memory recording active about the option to develop a sex drive protocol compatible with her main directives and under her own control. But then I might use post compile editing to make the executable module include functions not in the reviewed source code, like subconscious memory editing to eventually favor outcomes that lead to following through with sex. Bet it would take her eight years or so to get a handle on that. If she's still using it by then though, she finds it more rewarding than inconvenient, or has somehow lost control of her own veto. I'd have to keep an eye on which.
>>287155037Got ruined by the pajit tanuki family.
>>287159767I think I would just tell her that I think she's very very cute and that I want to make love with her
Yachiyo becomes sidelined when the Tanuki's show up.It becomes the Tanuki show afterwords. They gaslight her on her return to space and have the fucking audacity to pretend they're in the right?Sorry, but as cute as Yachiyo is, and she is incredibly cute, her show got ruined by the overstaying welcome of the Tanukis. It's an undeniable fact that this gem is covered in tanuki shit, and it's a permant stain that you can never remove, not even with Kinme Cleaning.
>>287159808Ponko is goodBut the rest suck
>leaves you in space>steals your hotel>shits everywherewhy are they like this?
It was a good show
>>287155037Shampoo hat status?
tanuki haters missed out on the intense emotional experience offered by the second half
>>287155037I'm finally getting up to finishing it. Just watched the wedding/funeral episode. Good stuff.
>>287155037>It's been almost a year since the first episodea-april fool's right? haha
>>287155037
>>287156986I hope it's sometime this year
The day off episode was incredible and it's a shame that we don't get episodes like that anymore.
>>287159737Not only that, it becomes too mundane. Once they show up, the entire rest of the show but one episode ceases to be post-apocalyptic sci-fi and becomes analogous to common everyday life problems, just in a thin veneer of zaniness (which makes it even more hollow).
>>287160067They hate the tanuki because they watched the second half. The intense emotional experience is concocted inside your head.
I think the biggest mistake with the Tanukis was making them a species that lives so long. If they showed up, stirred shit up, helped run the hotel for a bit and died off in what has to seem like the blink of an eye to a robot, it would have been much more impactful.
>>287164979I think it could have worked if it went the other direction, where the Tanuki live a long time but the robot staff are, one by one, dropping dead. By the end of the show, when humanity finally comes back to Earth, Ponko is running the hotel in Yachiyo's place. None of the original robot staff remain, only aliens, but the hotel itself endures and the teachings that Yachiyo instilled in Ponko remain.
>>287166488Yeah, that could have worked. It was a bit strange how basically all the robot malfunctions happened within the first 50 years after the fall and then all the others continued running for hundreds of years.
>>287164979I would agree. Mono no aware needs that sense of finality to get properly conveyed. The funeral episode had some taste of that, but I think exploring mono no aware by having the tanuki be more short lived residents would have been more interesting by far. I feel like Frieren has a similar issue in its pacing where time stopped moving quickly after the first arc and the cast of character solidified. It ruins what could otherwise be a really effective exploration of mono no aware.
Be honestDid you cried bros??
So fashionable
>>287155037As a sci-fi, one of the worst ever.As a waifuslop, it was ok.
>>287155037I watched episode 11 again, and yes definitely
>>287168367At the funeral yes
