I'm no bridge builder but no way this shit takes 200 years to build.
>>287169215show me the side
>>287169215t.
>>287169267Serufu strikes again
>>287169215It does if you include the time to grow trees for wood.
>>287169215Walking across it feels like Sex
they fucked up drawing the chasm smaller and making a simple bridge.the manga one does look like a 200 year job
>>287169774The one in the manga looks much less pathetic, but it's still silly to say it'd take 200 years unless you add a bunch of caveats like "if you can only work on it an hour a day because of all of the time you're putting into tending to your farm, patching up your shack, and getting drunk".
>>287169849doesnt lil nigga live by himself and take care of all his own needs? and also build the thing exclusively alone?
>>28716984940% of his time would be dedicated to walking to the nearest town for supplies until the new town was set up.
>we can't fly over around 20 m because windx and sheetfucking dishonest anime
Is the bridge supossed to be a joke?Because there's no way they couldn't just jump that.
>>287170099But da wind?
>>287170126
>>287169267>>287169306You just reminded me
>>287169267Is that what a dovetail joint failure looks like? There's a lot of torn wood.
>>287169333Only if you grow one tree at a time
>>287169215If I could live 200 years, I wouldn't be in any hurry
>>287170519That's fair, but also Himmel got taken for an absolute fool giving this lazy fuck all that money.
>>287170054Dragon Ball did this and everyone lose their minds, but is ok when Frieren does it.
>>287170519if you only lived for 200 years you wouldn't have completed the bridge retard
please don't add flying to your isekai if you can't handle having all your characters being able to fly over all their problemsobjectively horrible fucking writing.
>>287170649Almalexia woke up and was displeased
>>287170649but "i can do it except when i can't" is the soft magic trump card, what do you mean i can't use it?
>>287169215You clearly don't live in the US.
>>287170099I think Freiren is just lying and making up an excuse to use the bridge so the dwarf could fulfill his promise to Himmel.
>>287170649there arent enough conflicts to be a problem
>>287172807the only way that would be true is if it happened zero times
>>287170649But flying is cool though and Fern noscoping enemies from 3 kilometers away is cool!
>>287172461That might have been interesting angle, but I don't think the author had any greater vision.
>>287169215>spend a lot of time constructing bridge>this thing ruins it in seconds>rinse and repeat
>>287173092One must imagine Gehen happy.
I don't the average Japanese person understands the level of maintenance put into their old wood buildings. But culturally they think 'we have old wood shit so wood can be old'. The last time they repaired Horyu-ji it took them from 1935 to 1954.
>>287170345i tried to look it up, apparently the joists were internally rotted so maintenance didn't notice
>>287172461Fern is the one that says they can't fly over in a very matter-of-fact way. And in a typical slopren fashion it's get contradicted in the same episode by the fucking birds that should have way more difficulty flying in bad conditions then levitating humans.
>>287170310>Fuck whoever made that campfire tutorial a week ago on /a/I just want to note that clearly it was a great tutorial.
>>287169774Not really, it doesn't look that much bigger in the manga either, especially if you take the size in respect to the characters
>>287169215He probably planted trees and waited when they grow up tol
>>287173292Repairing cultural buildings takes a while though. It'd be like, only 1-2 old men certified to do it and they are already booked doing other jobs. That's probably the big bottleneck.
>>287169267>>287170310Do you ever wonder what the body count is for these kinds of mistakes and how many are from anime like those?
>>287174484but was there any local news about this one
>>287170054>>287170126They could have at least show a visible wall of wind preventing anything from crossing. But then how could the birds live there? They would have to find another thing to fight that is preventing the bridge from working.
>>287174007>chasm is like 10x bigger>not much bigger
>>287174678I'd say the bridge is 2x, maybe 2.5x as long.
>>287174007>Strong wind zone>Arch bridgeNo wonder it took him 200 years. I still wouldn't use it.
>>287169215frenchfryren keeps getting worse and worse
>>287175627old good new bad
>>287169215Builing this would be impossible without modern technology, even if you attempted building from both sides it would collapse before reaching the middle. Long elevated bridges like this only exist in fiction.
>>287175689He could've used a crane.
>>287169267I don't get it
>>287175689It's possible, they show how he was building it, and it's more or less how it was done back then. The problem is that he needed to make very, very, very strong foundations and have a perfect calculation of the arc until he built it and it was able to resist the, allegedly, strong wind loads.
>>287176027it was held by constantly flipping pancakes
>>287176027If there is an enormous pile of wood at the bottom of the canyon from failed attempts, that'd explain a lot about the time taken.
>>287175689Are you retarded? You start with a rope bridge scaffold to support construction and lift completed bridge segments into place with rope and pulleys anchored in firm ground. You don't just build outwards from the cliff like looney tunes.
>>287174484Shit like this is why I will never do apartment living. Imagine having a retard like this next door.
>>287176735Well I think you wouldn't be next to someone like that for long
>>287174007Looks like the anime also removed the forests. So where did he get the wood
>>287177022it's not much solace that your retard neighbor won't get a second chance to fuck up if his first fuck-up kills you.
>>287177099What do you think happens to a forest that gets chopped down for wood?
>>287175689Magic?
>>287179633Dwarves can't use magic, and whether someone ultimately helped him or not, he started and resumed the job solo with the intent to finish it.
