Toshio Okada once said that Anno doesn't know how is to work for a big organization. Anno was put in charge of the animation for Daicon 3 and 4. Anno made some freelance work for SDF Macross and he was ascended to animation director in DYRL. Anno joined Ghibli and he got the Giant God sequence in Nausicaa.
