It's implication at the start was fairly reasonable, MC can't cast higher tier shit but is good at intermediate support in less flashy ways the party doesn't recognize, but oh no we can't have an actually limited protag, turns out he can solo things the entire party can't defeat, and his special custom magic can make attacks 50 times stronger.
