>>287249306That's part of the genius of the anime in specific. It's undisputeable, that it's mainly a shoujo series appealing to girls. The characterization, the character dynamic and at least all b-plots go clearly in that direction. But through the transformation sequences they pivoted to the shounen crowd just a bit. Their sex appeal gets a bit more pronounced in body like you said as well as in costume. The costumes are especially genius, since as the other anon did, you could frame every pantyshot as just a harmless leotard showing. But for a 12yo to 16yo boy this technicality wouldn't matter in the slightest. He saw the "panties" of these normally quite innocent girls and was thrilled at the mere idea of may be experiencing something similiar in his peer group in school.The show is so honest in it's teenage focus, I really respect that and also miss it somewhat. I would never rewatch it in any capacity now, but I would lie, when I'd say, I don't think about Ami and Minako sometimes.
