It's interesting, but it goes completely far afield from the LNs and the anime. I think it's worth reading, but it's divisive.

Sure, if you've already seen the anime and read the LN and want more. It captures the style of Nisio's writing well. even adds a couple of moments I wish wasn't cut from the anime. Though it goes a bit too far in a shonen-y/action-y direction for me to prefer it over the anime/LN, it's still a good read.
Oh and the author is clearly a Hanekawafag.
