Have you praised our lord and savior Akagi Shigeru today?
I've watched the show four times, still no idea what's going on, still love it to pieces.
... RON
I watch a bunch of professional mahjong leagues and the games are nothing like Akagi. It's just all fast low-value hands.
>>287268595>It's just all fast low-value hands.what fucking league is this? not even gold room players do this.
>>287268595>professional mahjong leagues>nyaggers
>>287268730Well yeah, gold room players are bad. Unless you start with something very promising(which is less than 10% of the time) waiting for miracles is pointless.
I miss him, bros.
>>287267846Why not read the manga?>>287270204Akagi will live on through you, that's the point
>>287268595Sanma is the real anime mahjong.
>>287268595Some IRL games are definitely some anime bullshit. I've seen it happen too many times. Also, while Akagi's games are part of a story and therefore can't really meander too much in "unproductive directions" like things sometimes do in real life through RNG alone, the hands Akagi actually win are basically close to IRL averages (lot of pinfu/tanyao/riichi). Admittedly this is mostly thanks to Washizu mahjong and early games had some bigger surges.
>>287267846come to my house, I will teach you the dark sorcery of Mahjong
>>287268595>It's just all fast low-value hands.Akagi does this tooWhat you really gotta watch is just some bros playing Ikasama Mahjong
So is there any difference between Chinese and Japanese Mahjong or are they the same game?
>>287268595>It's just all fast low-value handsThat's not true at all
>>287275688Very different games. Chinese mahjong has no real concept of defense (no furiten, tsumo multiplies the payout by 3 instead of sharing it between everyone), there are 100+ yaku and the points are counted differently.
>>287275688they have the same base mechanics>everybody has 13 tiles>take turns drawing and discarding>first to make 4 melds and a pair wins>you can steal tiles people drop>you (usually) need a yaku to winChinese and Japanese are different in that>Chinese discards anywhere in the center, Japanese everyone discards in their own pile>Chinese doesn't have Discard Furiten, Japanese has Discard Furiten>they have different yaku,Chinese has ~80 yaku whereas Japanese has ~50, for example Chinese has "Tile Hog" which gives you points for having all 4 copies of a tile, whereas Japanese has Riichi which is its own unique system that the Japanese made up (I think)>they also have different scoring, Chinese needs you to get at least 8 fan which you get by completing certain things like +1 for kanchan wait, +2 for a concealed kan, +4 for tsumo draw or +6 for all triplets etc., where Japanese only needs at least 1 han to win and your hand composition gives you fu that you multiply together with han (kinda) to get your scoreChinese Mahjong also has a hundred different regional variants, a lot of families play without yaku, for example.
