Perhaps the most blatant example is Berserk and Evil Dead. The Godhand was also a clear nod to Hellraiser.

How the do you bring up hollywood influences on berserk and not mention Phantom of the Paradise?
>>
>>287286983
I actually liked this anime, was a fun Davinci Code-like slop but the tranny was really jarring. What were they thinking?
>>
>>287288231
did you never watch coyboy bebop and samurai champloo?

Yes I have. I know it's from the same guy.

Good to know that I haven't watched any garbage mentioned ITT.

Nigga, the God Hand are literally the Cenobites.

Berserk started before Army of Darkness.
>>
I feel like the first Deathstalker movie has a lot of influence on hentai and ecchi shit
>copius amounts of rape
>scene where a dude is given the body of a woman
>some of the outfits look like shit that comes up in hentai
>>
Nigga the whole medium was ripped off from disney films of the 30s
>>
>>287289146
Japanese comics were already popular before that point.
>>
>>287288714
And? Was the chapter out before the movie?
>>
>>287289183
Not really? Tezuka went and study the Disney style which derived into modern manga style. Which Japanese comic was popular before Tezuka?
>>
I mean, MHA and One Punch man comes to mind.
>>
>>287289217
Most of the list is literally taken from the first few chapters of the manga, which yes, did come out before Army of Darkness, and the details of which were already mostly established back in the Berserk one-shot.
Army of Darkness premiered in late 1992, and came out in theaters in early 1993. Berserk was already almost 6 volumes deep then.

manga is old as shit, japanese literature is one of the pillars of the culture much more than in amerifat (expected) or europe. while tezuka was inspired by some old cartoons his style was different and more mature. also disney ripped kimba (to be fair they ripped almost any story, americans are really good at copying jap movies/books)
>>
>>287289237
Tezuka is responsible for popularizing drama and tragedy in children's media, he did not invent the medium in any shape or form
>>
Tezuka was inspired by western capeSOVL.

There were already Japanese boys magazines with significant manga sections in the 1910s.
Series like Norakuro were very popular and Tezuka likely grew up reading them.

This guy was a very important revolutionary magazine editor in this pre-Tezuka era that fostered the industry.

Not really, most similarities are superficial. Now Tezuka really liked referencing Disney in a more literal way.
>>
Jiro Taniguchi has taken some panels from Blueberry by Moebius and copied them for a manga he did, but he was never shy about admitting the huge inspiration he got from Moebius.

Tetsuo Hara has said his art was influenced by Frank Frazetta and Neal Adams. Specifically the pose of Raoh with one hand in the air and Raoh on Kokuoh are both references of Frazetta drawings.
>>
>>287289757
That doesn't refute the point he's making. Anime and manga as we know it today would be so different it wasn't for Tezuka's fascination with Walt Disney.

>The first manga, Norakuro, was published in the magazine in 1931.
>The titular protagonist, Norakuro, or Norakuro-kun, is an anthropomorphic black and white dog inspired by Felix the Cat.

60s western animation is literally what inspired anime. It was all started by Carl Barks and Scrooge McDuck comics in the 50s, which inspired Tezuka to create Astro Boy. The earliest manga was based on Disney. Similarly, the animation industry was pioneered by Disney. Before them, and before their concept of cel animation, it was a costly and time-consuming procedure. Anime was made possible, and profitable, by Disney.

The Japanese were already making anime propaganda films in the 30s and 40s.
>>
>>287286945
I read that one of the characters in berserk is based on a character in flesh+blood but it's been so long I can't remember which. Isn't it also kinda like Micheal Moorcock's stories? Idk I haven't read berserk.
>>
>>287286945
Cyborg 009 can't go five minutes without referencing ancient aliens, pulp fantasy and psychic powers. It's like someone gave a Western comic script to a Japanese author.
>>
Fist of the North Star is just Mad Max with karate.
>>
>>287295727
I'm aware of that, but they were so different from how Tezuka did it and their influence aren't as prominent as his on the medium as we know it today.

Brother, funy text paired with relevant images has been popular since at least the friggin' Edo period, here's a piece called "Playboy, Grilled Edo Style" by Santo Kyoden
Tezuka just pioneered the format we see manga in today, with paneling and text bubbles (that he took from american comics)

I'd rather say that it's just Miura being a hack who could only implement shit from his favorite movies, all while "getting influenced" by the Devilman's plot structure.
