>Scratchy, messy and generally unrefined art styles with weirdly blocky shape design sensibilities (that usually gets improved by the anime adaptation)
>Characters are wearing minimalistic black suits, coats and uniforms in comparison to the colorful clothes or intricate costumes you see in standard older shounen titles
>Worldbuilding is just "our world but with demons" and it's usually very Tokyo-centric
>Plot usually involves cursed beings, a specific OP character with abilities that put him on top power level-wise, revenge and demon hunting organizations
What happened to martial arts manga where the artists copied from Hong Kong films, samurai/ninja-centric stories without any sort of supernatural/horror element or just engaging fantasy stories with elaborate worldbuilding?

And why do nu-shounen like JJK, MHA, CSM and KnY always handicap their worldbuilding by making Japan the center of their supernatural stories and basically ignoring the rest of the world altogether? If they don't have the creativity to create a new world like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto and so on, then at least make other countries relevant when the stakes become stupidly high. And no, just one random fodder like Star and Stripe or Miguel showing up to job while the series specifically showcase Japan is sugoi number one doesn't count.

Manga is a Japanese work made by Japanese creators for Japanese children, and many don't expect their works to blow up worldwide like Hollywood movies, so it makes sense why these series are isolated to Japan.

you niggers don't even read classic shounen aside from these four, and honestly, it's more of a return to form to the old classics like flame of recca, yu yu hakusho, ranma 1/2, inuyasha and so on where other countries outside japan and the otherworld are not involved

plus, i bet you niggers can't even name a battle shounen outside of those famous four and maybe fairy taile and toriko

Soul Eater unironically did the culture clash thing that's missing in newer shonen pretty well

All countries do this
They make their own country center of the world
But if Japan does it, it's suddenly a problem. Also
>naruto and one piece
Naruto's worldbuilding is contradictory and One Piece just throws shit hoping it sticks

>why do japanese people make thing about japan?!? they should cater to me and only ME!
Make your own anime studio

No they don't.

>yu yu hakusho
YYH was only set in Japan for one arc only. The rest of the series takes place in the Demon World.
>Ranma
Ranma is a slice of life romcom, so the scale of the story has always been low by comparison.
>Inuyasha
The story is episodic by nature and the central plot that revolves around collecting the Shikon Jewel shards is just a backdrop for Takahashi to write personal character-driven narratives. Inuyasha is also a romcom.
>Flame of Recca
It's also small scale and focuses on a contained, personal conflict rather than saving the world.

Yeah they do
Look at those American shows where America is the center of the world. Or South Korean shows where South Korea is the center or China where Three Body has China get signals from aliens and sends them a signal to trigger an invasion and a Chinese man is the one who saves the world. If this was made in America, it would be Americans as the saviors

What a load of horseshit. Americans make far more stories about other countries than just fucking America, and just last year, 2025 alone has been one of the most diverse year for movies. Japan isn't special.

The parts of three body problem that take place outside of China are cringe though. There is something to be said for not reaching beyond your grasp when it comes to depicting foreigners. That said there are smart ways and stupid ways to keep your story localized to a smaller place. JJK and MHA do it poorly. Bleach's solution of "there are different soul worlds for different cultures, but that's not where the story is so there's no need to get into it" is a lot better because it isn't reaching or overly dismissive.

america is a 'melting pot' of cultures and ethnicities from everywhere in the world. japan is an ethnostate. they don't have a global cultural heritage the way the US does

Okay and I'm looking at movies I watched that released last year
>F1
Produced by Americans, but the whole movie jumps between real Grand Prix tracks in Japan, Hungary, Mexico, Belgium, Abu Dhabi, Italy, Netherlands, UK
>Mickey 17
Produced by a Korean, filmed in England, stars mostly Western actors, story set on a random ice planet in space. No Korea in sight, no Korean savior complex
>Ballerina
American franchise, but heavily shot and styled in Czech Republic with an international cast
>Bogota City of the Lost
Produced by Koreans but the entire story is set in Colombia's black market. Korean immigrant kid trying to survive in South America
>The Phoenician Scheme
Produced by Americans but packed with an international cast and story is full of Near East and Middle East tycoon schemes

Sorry if not all of these movies are made by American studios, I'm not going to do any researching. Still, you're a fucking idiot if you think American media is as ethnocentric as Japan can be
