To defend the author slightly, a lot of the reason Ais gets shafted in Danmach is because his editor keeps preventing any development there, rather than just because the author is inept. Omori talks about that stuff in the author's notes of the LNs, most notoriously that Ais and Bell were going to kiss in SO but his editor curbed that. But his editors also had him cut Ais from Vol 9 and is likely the reason for her reduced presence in the main series now.He can obviously write decent romance because both Ryuu and Freya's arcs are well-received in Danmachi. I don't really know if there's a "good" reason for cockblocking in Wistoria though, so maybe he is just a fraud who blames his editor(s).
