>>287307750I don't remember which events happen in what chapter near the beginning that well any more but it's a bit awkward to start and then really comes into its own once the actual plot shit kicks off and we start learning about the nature of tamasakura town and what the dark office actually is and stuff. It all seems like random throwaway gags at first and maybe it was when Ito first wrote the pilot but somehow everything starts coming together amazingly cleanly and there's some pretty heavy stuff, at first just hidden as implications behind the background gags but naturally escalating as real stakes start getting added. it's really tragic that the mangaka is going to die before finishing it

Like this gag about the pillow, Shamiko actually wants it so she can sleep without her horns bumping the floor (pic related) but official TL completely rewrote the joke to be about her tail for no reason.
