What are /a/'s thoughts on Stone Ocean, in particular the endingI am asking because I only read it once years ago when scans and public reception was poor of it (and 5 for the same reason)Recently I the anime was a bit poorly received too so I wanna see what /a/ feelsAlso Jolyne a mega cute
>>287303926The storytime had great reception.
>>287303926We hate it, and we hate you too.
>>287303926Underutilization of the prison settingMain group doesn't have enough interactions for them to feel like a teamFights are boring Ending is alright
>>287304020Damn bro…
>>287303926Part 4 and 5 were the best
>>287304501Part 5 still sucks
>>287304773It's not as strong as part 4, however it has some of the funniest scenes in the series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FvsXj8CI7U
After reading the black and white version of the manga and watching the bluray version of the anime I have come to appreciate this part a lot more.I think some of the biggest criticisms of this part are still valid but I now see them under a new light. The rest of the main characters are not bad but they are severely underused and irrelevant. I mostly think about how Hermes and Anasui are just tools that keep Jolyne safe after their introduction instead of actual characters.Dragon's Dream isn't bad or confusing, it's just Araki's usual autism of wanting to give something that already exists a different name. Like "erasing time" or "neighbouring worlds".Also if you're new to the franchise please stop reading the god awful colored scans and read it in black and whiteLuv Jolyne, luv Emporio, luv Weather, luv FF. Hate Anasui, simple as.
>>287303926Pucci won.
>>287303926I just recently finished the anime going by faint memories of the manga from 10+ years ago to compare it to. I thought it was good. It's overall ranking on my personal JoJo parts tier list didn't change. 5 > 2 > 7 > 6 > 1 > 3 > 4 > 8
>>287304048The only guy who doesn’t really feel like a friend is weather report. Araki fumbled his character really hard in general.
>>287304814It has funny moments but it’s still dragged down by having the least interesting main protagonist and main antagonist. And I don’t really care for the fights either, they rarely progress the plot, the cast aren’t going to get killed by random grunts so theres no tension, the only character who develops from their fight is Trish though it was all pointless considering she does fuck all in the final showdown with her dad.
>>287304820>Luv Jolyne, luv Weather, luv FF. Hate Anasuivalid>luv Emporiodogshit taste
>>2873039267 > 6 > 8 > 5 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 1
>>287303926It was fun. The prison setting kinda got old quick, but the characters are lovely. Esp Foo.
>>287303926I liked it a lot. Even if I don't consider it to be the most well written part, it might be my favorite. Jolyne and Pucci's dynamic was probably the best hero-villain relationship Araki ever wrote. Some of the side villains like Versus and Rikiel are up there with the best of Jojo. The finale with C-Moon into Maid in Heaven was very well executed.
I should preface by saying that Part 2 is my favorite, so feel free to disregard my opinion. I found parts 3 and 4 okay, hated part 5, and went into part 6 thinking I'd hate it as well. However, despite not caring much for the characters (except FF), I found the read surprisingly engaging, and the ending was pointless but funny.
>>287303926Personally Stone Ocean is my third favorite part when it comes to the manga, only being beaten by Battle Tendency and Steel Ball RunWhen it comes to the anime it's my least favorite due to how butchered the adaptation is but it's the enjoyable overallStone Ocean felt like the part that lived up the most the bizarre aspect, while the team wasn't outstanding they were really fun, Pucci is easily my second favorite antagonist and I thought the ending was great particularly the final confrontation
>>287303926The storytime fucking loved it
>>287304820>Hate Anasui, shit tastehis constantly dropping spaghetti concerning his love confessions is too damn amusing
>>287303926cool part with cool endingit feels like the end times when pucci attained heaven
>>287304048>Main group doesn't have enough interactionsthey interact enough>Fights are boringit has the most interesting stands in the series
>>287307109Anasui's reaction here still kills me
>>287307109>>287307475Yeah, I think Anasui was one of the better handled characters in the part. I liked the bits we got of Hermes, but then she vanished for half the runtime and it sucked just as much as when Avdol did it earlier.
>>287303926worst group dynamic of the parts so fargreenbaby schizoritual is too random to be engaging or worthy of carepucci's defeat was lamejolyne is trapped in a mediocre partDragons' Dream is great, a sentient stand that emerged not from the Arrow but from user's own mastery and dedication, very cool
Need a Jolyne figure desudo they make any of pink hair Jolyne
Incredible aesthetics outside of the prison, some of arakis best colored artwork ever. There was a punk rock early 2000s violent attitude era feel to part 6 and that along with it taking place in my hometown it kind of holds a special place in my heart. Has the best finale in the series besides part 7s, one of the best villains and some of the most creative and fun stand battles in the series as well . Overall a great reading experience, is even recommend the colored manga. Can't say the same about the anime, it was the only adaption I didn't finish because it was dropping the ball on a lot of key moments, it hurt to see what they did to the C-Moom fight which is one of the most intense moments in the manga. I'd say part 6s weak points are the main cast not being very tight as a unit (they're all fine as individuals) and the prison itself feeling claustrophobic and not the most exciting. Also some of the stand battles towards the middle kind of suck, they're very creative and weird and morbidly entertaining like yoyoma but certainly not reaching the heights of some of the other parts. Jolyne is also one of the best JoJo's, right behind Johnny and Jodio, probably tied with Jotaro
