MC AT does good work
that very short era where our country's version of the BBC had a cartoon/anime for teens channel with the usual dbz, yugioh and naruto stuff but also started dubbing some random shit like this series, and some other obscure 90s/80s/70s animes, they even did a special on the jojo ova, i don't know if they just got handed an order catalog or some shit and picked the cheap ones. they cancelled this one like 4 episodes in when they realized it's borderline softcore porn.

I actually did a reread recently. And contrary to widespread opinion, I don't think it's bad writing, Oh great! is just very verbose and esoteric, which requires some effort and attention in reading. The infamous year long flashback that sidelines the main character stands out. The tragic love triangle between Mitsuomi, Maya and Shin has great drama. Shin comparing his relationship to maya to a moth being drawn to fire which will inevitably burn him. Shin being a character that is trying to do the "right" thing, being willing to be killed by Mitsuomi for some dumb prophecy, but Mitsuomi not only killing him but then also getting to bang Maya afterwards was too much for Shin. All that culminates in that scene where Maya calls out to Mitsuomi for help instead of Shin, which makes him lose it and finally decide to fuck Mitsuomi up. It's great drama, but most people just want a self-insert powerphantasy, which this explicitly is not.
