We had an opportunity to see teams from all over the world, which would let us see a shitload of different elemental forms being used, people from different villages/cultures, and friendships/enemies/rivalries built between the Kakashi trio and groups from each major world power.Instead we got 12 Leaf Genin all the exact same age, 8 of which are irrelevant and get damn near nothing past the Sasuke Retrieval arc, 3 Sound nin who become irrelevant and die, 3 sand nin who actually do fill this role eventually, and the Kabuto group which is 2 faceless jobbers and Kabuto.We could have had a team from stone, waves, cloud, all other countries, and then it would make sense why we don't see them or hear from them in a while, they're halfway around the world. Instead we get 9 other leaf ninja that mostly do fuck all for the rest of the manga save maybe Shikamaru.

Naruto part 1 was really so good that it carried the entirety of shit that is part 2. Naruto became such a stupid, unlikable character. There's not an ounce of cool to him. He's pathetic, unreliable, relying on brute strength and tard rage 99 percent of the time. Easily the weakest MC of the big three. That goes for the story, lore, world building and side characters. All the side chars that get development are unlikable. Sakura is weak, Sasuke is obnoxious, Kakashi is just an aura farmer but really a bad character. The villains are okay but Naruto rarely fights them and when he does, unless he's in one of the op modes, he's worthless. The story took a nosedive, the kaguya introduction plot twist was dog shit. The ending was shit, just an ad for boruslop. Naruto got character assassinated so fucking hard it's pathetic. Overall it's a dogshit series and it's depressing thinking about it with how much potential it had.

They don't have to go on missions of political sensitivity. Follow orders they may or may not agree with/understand.Having these foreign Genin drawing parallels between the Leaf village and others would be thematically way more impactful than "Here's the Konoha 12, none of them matter outside of Naruto and Sasuke!" with crumbs being thrown to the rest of them. They wouldn't have to be major characters if they were foreigners. They could be sparsely used/revisited depending on the arc. Which is what ended up happening anyway with about 8 of the 12 we got.
