I don't think anime will ever truly be mainstream. There is simply too much prejudice against animated content. There will never come a time when my parents will seriously try anime.

Don't be silly. It's still a niche, it's bigger than it was betore, but it's still a niche just like kpop is a niche. Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and Naruto are outliers, not the norm.

It's not getting more mainstream than it is now.
There'll be more mainstream anime, sure, but the medium has too much of a history of weirdness and ecchi, and there's a bias towards thinking animation is only for kids in the rest of the world.
The only question is what it'll be. Omniscient reader will be as popular as Solo Levelling, but it's not going to reach Your Name or Chainsaw Man levels.

It's already mainstream. Every kid talks about it now, it's referenced everywhere, you even got weeb shops in malls. There's a popular anime themed pizza place where i live too.
