I want to talk about orochimarus character as a whole.
>absolute monster of a human.
Yet He’s the guy who cried at the thought of murdering his mentor. And the death of his teammate jiraya affected him deeply.

He never got over his parent’s deaths and his inability to properly cope with the death of those he cares about is what drove him off the deep end.
>>
Dunno why people complain about him being forgiven in the end. If Genociders like Itachi and Obito can be worshipped in universe then Orochimaru can be excused for his crimes

He's literally me

Sasuke, Itachi, Pain, and Orochimaru are all different interpretations of the anti-villain archetype.
Sasuke is a corrupted avenger, Itachi is a detached cynic, Pain is a hollow utilitarian, and Orochimaru is a fallen idealist.
Obito is a real villain who murdered his own family for lols and spent years orchestrating terrorism and wars from behind the scenes all to cause nihilistic suffering so he could destroy the world. I don't know why anyone views him sympathetically beyond the fact he gets 'redeemed' at the end
