But something about it is very distinct and comfortable, perfect especially for otaku works. It is nice that the Japanese continue to innovate. But I kind of wish they'd revive this style. If just one thing, I wish they'd bring the colors back. While not as bad as western art, even Japanese art has been hit by the desaturation plague to some extent. Real life is colorful, our art should be too. Also, bring back the constant gags and symbols, those were cute and iconic even if repetitive.
