We begin with someone calling out to a girl named Chinatsu, who's carrying around an extremely expensive bag. Where did she get the money to buy it? From Gray jobs, of course. Apparently, it was no big deal. At the same time, someone else is on their phone, saying "Kikuchi, tonight at midnight. Under the usual bridge." Maybe it's relevant, maybe it's not.Anyway, Yume and Jin are walking down the street. It's been half an year since Jin went missing, and the atmosphere's changed. The "Gray" has been closer than ever.Three entire prefectures have been lost.Jin replies, "......So? What are we to do now?"Yume says they'll need to do some jobs first. She's gathered a few Gray jobs, but before she can finish, Jin interrupts, asking why she's doing this by herself and what happened to Shirahama.Yume is pissed. "Don't say that name so lightly. Or I'll kill you."Jin understands, but Yume falls on her knees, mumbling nonsense. Jin's worried about her, but when he calls her "Yume Kokuryou", she cuts in, saying her name is Nijimura. That other surname makes her sick. After getting up and insisting she's fine, they proceed to recruit people for the previous Messenger job.We then get the title of this chapter: "Fixer 2, part 1".It's two weeks later, presumably after the messengers succeed their work. We're at Akagawa's office, talking on the phone to someone about their Gray job application. There's no ending to the number of people looking for Gray jobs. She's so busy there's not enough sugar for her, just as Yume and Jin show up. They immediately ruffle through her documents without her permission, before pulling out a job and saying: "Kyouko. We'll do it, this one here."The job title is Sewer Inspector.Akagawa obviously isn't okay with this, especially since the job's not hiring anymore, but Yume just replies with "I'm the client. I'm hiring you to do this job, Kyouko."

Akagawa is even more confused, thinking Yume must be tired out of her mind, but Yume just tells Jin to break one of Akagawa's fingers. Any finger, one by one, until she says yes. Akagawa immediately relents, but before they go to work, they stop by her and Yagi's father's house to get one of his fetiches. Akagawa says if that's what they wanted, they could've just told her, but Yume retorts that this is to held her. She wouldn't notice anything otherwise.Akagawa still doesn't understand what she's talking about, but she assures her she'll explain later. Yume gives her a long something to take with her, and when Akagawa asks "Anything else, boss?", Yume says "Take a towel, too." Akagawa isn't getting away from those sewers anytime soon.Anyway, we then get a description of the job, in particular, a description straight out of a top-secret company document.The objective of the inspection is to determine whether the sewer is behind a bizarre disease affecting Kakei City. The illness, commonly called "the prayer disease", causes people to become immobile, stuck in a pose similar to prayer toward a specific direction. The affected become unresponsive and nothing seems to be able to make them change their pose. After one day of this, they wither away and die. They saw that the directions the sufferers prayed to all intersected over a spot where people reported hearing strange noises below ground. The inspection was done just in case, but it was cancelled after the inspectors, both in-company and hired Gray workers, never made it back.With one exception that is, who returned only to die shortly after. The man, Osamu Suga (the Kanji in his name literally mean "Pipe Repair" btw), was 21 years old at the time, came back a desiccated old man, and when asked what was in that part of the sewers, he said only one thing: "An egg."That's it for now.
