Yeah reading it in the dailies it's much easier to sympathize with Sasuke, at least in the post-Itachi/Kage Summit parts. We had yet to meet the four Kage in edo tensei. Where Sarutobi admits he fumbled, Minato admits he did nothing on the issue nor even showed any interest. The assumption was still in the air that MAYBE Hiruzen didn't know or that there was some reason that made Hiruzen give the order or that we still were missing a piece of the puzzle. Heck some people theorized that Asuma could be Obito or had so many schizo theories that no one could really just say "Yeah Sasuke destroy the leaf!!!".
