I'm really enjoying this so far. The characters are all cool, and importantly I like Left and Right. It would be pretty bad if they were obnoxious mascot characters since I imagine they're going to get a lot of screentime, but the man is a bro and the woman is hot (I can't remember who's Right and who's Left). I like stories where the antagonists get nearly as much of the spotlight as the protagonists, and Asa and Gabu-chan are cute. Modern clothes are a lot easier to move in, to replace when damaged, and to fit in with regular society in. The bow stays though, which honestly isn't a bad idea for a ranged weapon in modern Japan since it's less conspicuous than using a gun and all, since it's what he's used to using. In the manga it's just chapter cover pages that have him in the older style of clothing, though even some of those have him in a modern T shirt and athletic pants.

The clans are basically a bunch of crime families in a supernatural gang war. So while the massacre of the villagers is in no way excusable (especially killing a mother in front of her child), it sorta explains the moral core of the story. Only Yuru who rejects either side, is truly innocent and just. Even nice characters like Dera or the fat mangaka were complicit in their faction's heinous shit. Arakawa kinda set herself up with a real problem though. Because later on, when certain named characters die and she wants you to feel kinda bad about it, it's always with the caveat that they were scum themselves.Asa still best girl though.
