Darwin Jihad is this weird, try-hard seinen anime that throws a super-strong human-chimp hybrid into high school romance and vegan terrorist drama, but it all feels like a pretentious 4chan shitpost that can't decide if it wants to be deep philosophy or edgy nonsense, ending up with clumsy strawmen, ridiculous plot holes, ugly stiff animation, and heavy-handed social commentary that just comes off as shallow and cringy. Yeah, that's basically it.

It didn’t “flop,” it just wasn’t the kind of show that gets instant sequel-bait greenlit.

Late-night seinen slot, niche subject matter, zero waifubait, and a plot that makes half the audience uncomfortable on purpose. That’s not exactly chainsaw merch numbers. It reviewed fine and the manga bump happened, which is usually the real goal anyway.

Also it covered a pretty self-contained arc. If they do S2 it’ll be after the committee finishes pretending Blu-rays still matter.

Give it a year. Or accept that monke was a one-cour social experiment and move on.
