Annual track and field meet for the last five years of elementary, and the whole school would spend two or three weeks prepping for it, though it wasn't nearly as cool as the shit in anime, no calvary battles or anything. Most advanced thing we had (probably due to budget) was high jump and shotput. Used to have archery, but that got banned before I even got into fourth grade. We also had another sports festival that I barely remember, it was mostly a way to have older years mentor the younger students for a bit. I imagine a lot of that got discontinued though. The school I went to was basically on its last legs and had a huge staffing change a year or two after I left, and part of it got demolished since it went from taking in 300~ students to half that over the decade. A shame I suppose.

Seriously, what’s wrong with all this “brute force” in schools these days? A physically weaker and shy student might get bullied or even beaten up, which immediately makes him unpopular with girls, and even mentally ill, but only physical hand to hands attacks are allowed, and only until age 18, because otherwise there are consequences.But it doesn’t fucking work the other way around, because as an adult concerned with automation, together with a few colleagues from complementary fields, we could "put a gun to the head” of a gang of troglodytes many times our number, even if they had firearms, quickly showing them who’s stronger forcing them to behave like humans and not a herd of apes.But we would get swatted instantly.This is terribly unfair, either there’s a real ban on bullying and violence, or anything goes. My high school was the main one for that whole 'district' (it was a couple cities so I'll just call it that), and it was shocking because my class had about 500 students.Obviously barely knew most of them, but it made things pretty hard when every other school was depositing classes that had 50~ students, while my school only had like 15. Ended up having a lot of immigrant friends because of it (if you're Canadian, you'd know I mean Koreans and Chinese guys rather than Indians, Indians only show up for work and college, not high school).
