How bad art can you tolerate before you drop something?
>>287412585I can tolerate some pretty bad art if everything is drawn by the sucker instead of using premade assets or AI.The minute he goes fake like in your pic, I drop.
>>287412585 That's just being lazy. Anyway, bad art is not really a problem for me as long as it fits the story, besides, panelling is more important in my opinion as it dictates things like reading flow and intent.
>>287412997Another example
>>287412997Well if it'd be easier to read what's happening that to tey to figure out what's going on in the picture, that's pretty justifiable too
>>287412585>Jiro MatsumotoWhat happened to this guy's art holy shit. I think the shittyness of the 3D elements must be intentional but he intended it to be gritty like his old sketchy art and not just laughable. Anyways, I didn't quit reading but I remember being shocked by how lazy Knights of Sidonia got. You could see him burn out in real time month to month. >>287413008Usually the paneling doesn't fall apart in a series (One Piece aside) but a sharp drop in art quality mid series happens often enough and can be jarring.
>>287412997>The minute he goes fake like in your pic, I drop.If I did that, I'd miss out on fun stories.
>>287413195Is this supposed to be half of a spread?
>>287413408Nope, previous page is this, next page is completely different scene.
I have a fairly high tolerance for 'bad' art, but a pretty low tolerance for art styles I don't like and an equally low tolerance for manga with a feel and/or aesthetic I don't like. For instance I tried Pun-Pun and will never finish it or read another manga that guy does. I actively disliked almost everything about the art, feel and aesthetic of the manga as well as the content.
>>287412585"bad art" is really subjective. there are definitely artstyles i hate, but i absolutely draw the line at tacky CGI
>>287412585small indie manga please understand
>>287413333going digital fucked him up or just being lazy
>>287412585CGI has done more damage to manga than animetake one look at young magazine now and it's obvious
It's awful when you can see him slowly start to add more and more straight CGI props without any thought of drawing over them. He also seems to not understand how to resize textures properly because he adds a shitloads of blurry stenchils like school patches to uniforms that could've just been drawn.
>>287413779Like how the fuck could anyone approve of shit that looks like this? If you can't draw it in time then just fucking change the scene composition.Real fucking shame because I liked how he wrote trashy gals.
>>287412997>>287413026neither of these is bad thoughever
>>287412585bad art is fine, sometimes it even gives it its own charm like ONEugly art is intolerable and I'll drop it regardless of how good the writing is
>>287412585I'm fully open to reading manga drawn on printer paper and photographed together if it interests me enough. But that image and >>287413796 looks fucking dismal. That might be in good part of me already finding the subject matter distasteful though.
>>287413672young was never good
>>287413672
>there are people out there who will gladly pay for this
>>287412585only when it's hard or annoying to understand the page, the art can be as crude as can beas long as its readable and maybe has a certain personality
>>287413666Dude has become too old and run out of money to hire competent assistant.
>>287412585I don't drop manga at all, so never.I'm open to all techniques and artstyles. Even if a part is lacking as long as the series itself is interesting I just keep reading. Under Ninja is still a favorite of mine despite the art decline, and ZINGZINE is dope despite Warainaku having his action scenes problems from Keyman still presnt.I think the one time I nearly dropped a manga because of the art was the manga adaptation of Tetsuo: The Iron Man. It was simply incomprehensible.
>>287412585You're supposed to concentrate on the trashy tattooed girls swearing and talking about periods
>>287416001I did that until even the tattoos became blurry CGI textures!
