Frieren should be yuri
>Please care about yuri
Everything should be
SHE WAS 16 FRIEREN
>>287431613Agreed. And Ubel & Methode should scissor.
Who the fuck is this retard specifically spamming these threads about Frieren? Enough.
>>287431943Frieren threads are fine in general but this one in particular is inappropriate
>>287431751Kill yourself. You are an ugly blight on my beautiful yuri.
>>287431943yurifags do this to blow off steam whenever they lose an argument
>>287432150>lostSure, fag
>>287432034I've seen this exact shit countless times and it only results in more shitposting against yuri among other retardation. It's time anons realize enablers deserve just as much hatred for our trouble.
>>287431613Does this count as incest?
>>287432354they're not related anon they're not even the same race but Fern is probably still a minor and Frieren is 1000 years old so there's that
Let’s prove we’re not biased. Name two yuri series that would be better if they were straight in addition to naming two straight series that would be improved if they were yuri instead. Here are my picks:>Hibike and Haganai>Green Manga and Citrus
>>287433532All yurislop series would be improved by being straight instead.
>>287433552Cute that you think that. When was the last universally beloved straight romance? The fans of the genre bemoan its current state.
>>287433758You think yuri is universally beloved?
>>287434080I think there are yuri series that are beloved by a large portion of the yuri audience. There haven’t been any straight romcoms like that in a good while. Kaguya would probably be the closest example I can think of.
>>287434080All holy texts agree that the special relationships between women are sacred.
>>287431613I know step fantasy is a popular tag and all, but don't we think we've taken it a bit too far if we've started doing NBR lesbian grandmacest?
>>287431613Futa*
>>287431613yuri makes a 3/10 show 8/10
>>287431613But it is?
>>287431613Bro, she's her daughter out of ten
>>287434167NTA. Sono Bisque Doll? I don't remember much backlash against it.
chinkslop is ahead
>>287436698I definitely remember a fair number of people here (incorrectly) criticizing it because they thought it was more of a woman's fantasy than a man's one, but I don't know how widespread that belief is.
describing anything as "universally beloved" makes you sound silly and 90% of the bemoaning involved in romcom is ironically just mentally ill people who have disorders related to consuming media seething about the presence of a male in their cartoons and the other 10% is shit like the school rumble schizo bitching about the type of male (not alpha enough for starving brazilians, too alpha for fat otaku, too bland for homosexuals). the genre is otherwise ubiquitous normgroid feed, but you can expect fans to get more 'emotional' about outcomes since the genre intentionally attempts to involve the reader on a more personal level (waifufagging)
>>287436703u-uncensored version, please?
>>287436895Perhaps universally beloved was a stretch on my part, but you're a fool if you not think that a good deal of the criticism towards a lot of modern romcom stories is around the development being too slow and ending soon after the couple get together.
>>287437007i see that argument way more often from explicitly non-fans of the genre and it's ironic you mention kaguya since people definitely screeched about them fucking
>>287437153Are either of those things antithetical to the idea of a romantic comedy? Would those people not be fans of the genre if the stories featured them more often? >since people definitely screeched about them fuckingI feel like this was just an /a/ phenomena, but early Kaguya was both generally popular and generally well-regarded.
>>287431613agree
>>287437153>since people definitely screeched about them fuckingOnly on /a/, where mentally ill purityfags are an actual infestation. People elsewhere were legitimately celebrating.
>>287437209no that's why nagatoro bokuyaba komi blah blah blah all have kiss scenes and im sure the author could continuously produce random sol ad infinitum until the readers get bored, but not everything can be turned into a climatic moment or a narrative progression>/a/ phenomenait all is
>>287437314The first kiss can be a climatic moment, but just like Kaguya, it is not impossible to continue the story after they get together.
>>287437337uh huh but not every outcome is "universally beloved" by nature of the genre having multiple appeals
Yuritroons are quite literally the bronies of anime/manga fanbase.
>>287437346If there are multiple appeals, shouldn't there be a broad array of romcoms that pander to those sensibilities then?
>>287437377we're discussing the differences between them right now
>>287437346Horimiya is a great example of this. The manga kept going over the first kiss, it kept going after the first time, it kept going until its logical closure point: the two leads' mutual profession of their intent to be together for the rest of their lives. Then it kept going. And going. And going. And by the end, a third of the manga ended up being banal slice of life that sidelined the main characters in favor of supporting characters that the writer chose, for some reason, to barely progress or develop over the ensuing 40 some-odd chapters. Some people loved it. They were happy to be along for the ride even when nothing was really happening. Other people,—myself included—viewed it as entirely fucking pointless when the manga had already done a nigh-on flawless job of telling the story it was telling from its beginning to (what realistically should have been) its end. And while there may have been plenty of people who liked the latter third of the manga, it ended up indelibly tarnishing the legacy of what many people viewed before then to be easily one of the greatest romance manga ever written.
>>287437447*after the first kissFucking phoneposting. I even proofread that and still missed it. God damn it.
>>287431613No, it shouldn't.Get your head out of your discord echo chamber. Your dogshit fetish is niche.
>>287437447Agree, I lost interest in Horiyama as soon as the story started focusing on the side characters. The slapping/brat scenes that followed were funny though. Also they did more than just kiss that night
>>287437431Right, but when I brought up stuff like faster pace and post-confession arcs, you implied those elements make a romcom inherently worse.>>287437447Of course, the elements described above can be done poorly, like in the example you provide or in rushed pacing. My criticism of especially shounen and seinen romance is the lack of variety here. For those who prefer the opposite, it's easier to get into a slower series that ends after the confession if there also series of their preferred type to contrast them.
>>287437509I DID say the story kept going after their first time, anon. It's been a hot minute, but IIRC they're implied to have had sex quite frequently after that.
>>287437447the irony is that I think people often get into these shows because of the personal fantasy they present but they're not familiar with the genre or media in general enough to understand that once the author tries to deliver further on that it no longer becomes personal. i often wonder what these people actually want. once you've hit all the beats the content well dries up extremely fast (especially in a contemporary setting) unless you're feeding porn to your readers or drama shit. i've often joked about this problem about how the "fully realized" romcom is one where it switches to (for example) an isekai once the pair actually gets together, which is obviously dumb because it would be very silly and rare to expect an author to introduce two themes like that. but ironically i think it's why ZnT holds a special place for me because there was an opportunity to explore romance as a co-theme and I did actually want to see at least a little bit of the main pair in the contemporary world after they 'get together', but the author fucking died and honestly i wouldn't be surprised if ZnT's life being cut short had a non-zero impact on the genre
>>287437729>i wouldn't be surprised if ZnT's life being cut short had a non-zero impact on the genreI wouldn't even argue that this is up for debate, anon. ZnT was so formative and important to isekai as a genre that it never being finished by the author himself is an undeniable scar. The foundations that it laid remain unshakable to this day—and yet they stand unfinished. We'll never know how different it could have been. It's quite possibly the most unfortunate thing to have ever happened to the genre. Well, you know: besides the existence of Shield Hero.
>>287437857I wish Raphtalia could be rescued from that show... it was nerfed too heavily from it's web novel. I really do understand why authors use the harem trope, in shows like Konosuba it drives a lot of engagement and gives more options for a wider audience, but I don't think anyone was watching Shield Hero for any reason other than Raphtalia lmao
>>287437983They sure as fuck weren't watching it for Naofumi. You'd struggle to find a less interesting protagonist in even the most bottom-of-the-barrel shoelacer slop. He's just... just awful.
>>287437857I haven’t kept up with Shoelace Hero, did it ever become romance? I figured Raph would be permadaughterzoned because muh grooming
newfag here, what is so amazing and hype about this series that its the top rated anime ever?

>>287434080yes>>287436698I would agree. Worst I ever saw was complaints about the final arc being a bit of a mess and the ending feeling super abrupt, which I would agree with too, but I don’t think it soured people on the series as a whole.
>>287431751yes. Almost.
>>287438102good music, comfy visuals and the occasional pretty cool fight scene plus a bunch of cute waifus. Personally I think it’s just on the better end of average plot wise but I get why it’s as popular as it is
>>287431613Not like that. It should causally imply their dirty deeds. It's much hotter that way.
