Just finished reading it. I'd say it was good, borderline great at times, but in the end it was a really boilerplate shonen and while very enjoyable I don't get the hype of this being the most popular series of the past 10 years. Is the anime really that much better? Also, I dont normally say this about shonen, but I think it couldve been longer, a few more volumes of build up before infinity castle would've helped. there was a lot of good characters who could've used more exposition. Having an entire arc of king demon tanjiro and the remaining demon slayers trying to figure out how to take him down wouldve been more interesting than just chucking another deus ex machina medicine in him right after it happened. Using poison as a crutch for taking down the rank 2 AND muzan is kind of weak. Also, there wasn't nearly enough full demon form Nezuko (muh dick). Really I was hoping nezuko wouldve had a bigger role in general for the final arc but all she did was sit around doing nothing really. All in all I'd probably give the manga an 8/10. Wasn't as good as Death Note or especially CSM part 1 (the other 2 series I just read). Next up is JJK. What did /a/ think of the demon slayer ending?

It's a simple story; I think the fact that it doesn't overextend itself it's one of its best points. Short, sweet and straight to the point.

Anime is worse.
Manga has the most cultural impact out of any shonen, global and domesticated

because you've seen many boiler plate shonen before
for 10-20 year olds that were only just getting into anime 7 years ago it was everyone they wanted in an anime
you take the best parts of the 3-5 best anime/manga in a certain genre and compress them down to a much more digestible length with a more cohesive narrative and you tend to get a large audience specifically made up of people too young to have grown up watching the 3-5 anime you drew inspiration from
same thing happened with gurren lagann and madoka back in the day.

do people actually like this fucking dogshit? it feels like it was made for children

It's fucking shounen, anon

>>287437449
its literally made for children you retard

It's an ok story with rare-for-shonen high stakes, coupled with heavy character investment that leads to higher emotional investment.
As everyone figured out years ago, it's popularity is purely from the direction (more so than animation) of the anime. It's not rocket science, it is just a really really well directed adaptation.

If you were not so terminally addicted to goycial media, like a goddamn retard, you would have no real issue with it. But since you're unable to go a single day without listening in on what the normies you do despise drone on about, you will suffer endlessly as you stupefy yourself on purpose - lest you suffer ego death from cognitive dissonance.
Fucking bargain bin retard.

The theater run for Infinity Castle finally ends, when will they release it digitally?

The optimistic thinks that we'll get a release one or two weeks later given how Infinity Train also released digitally after one week when it's movie run ended.

Surely Aniplex's greed has been satisfied or will they lose more sales to piracy if they keep delaying it?

It's a good straight-forward ending, consider how terrible most modern shonen endings are.

>that anon who hated Sotozaki, one of the directors of ufotable who's been involved in the Fate series and Demon Slayer adaptations.

I'm hoping the guys who made the final battle between Uzui and Gyutaro in the Entertainment Arc make the Kokushibo fight in Part 2 kino because the arc is even flashback heavy and people are already complaining the amount of flashbacks in Part 1.

They should wait until all movies are done

The worst part about the ending was the implication that zenitsu got to fuck nezuko

Otherwise it might have ended a bit too quickly and with some cheap shortcuts but the quality is still miles above what you can expect in regular shonen. It was basic in every aspect but that's what allowed it to be so well executed and memorable.

>Death note and CSM
Those aren't shonen anon and even then death note ending wasn't even that good, if you read it again you'll notice it

manga didn't make a dime though in sales until it got an anime

Jump will kill for something that makes what Kimetsu made pre-anime right now.

>Didn't make a dime

Here's a stinker of recent Shounen Manga that didn't even make a cent.

Kimetsu earned modest but dependable numbers given what that chart you've posted implies.

Are we going to pretend 4million copies isn't a lot?

I was actually upset about that too, because in real life zenitsu is a blatant incel and a simp and there's no chance he would get with a beauty like nezuko, she doesn't even remember all the stuff he did with her while she was a demon. meanwhile tanjiro and kanao made sense and was deserved.

it's the taisho period, a girl would rather be married to her brother's bed bud right now than wait for prince charming and waste a year of her baby making

You're not the target audience, this is for kids, not for manchildren.

Why do absolute dumbfucks on /a/ keep posting this as if it makes them superior?
Learn Japanese you fucking mongoloid

I agree mostly with you. I do think there should've been a bit more development with, Snake Hashira should've has an arc, some of the backstories should've been foreshadowed more before the Castle arc same with the Upper Moons, Zenitsu's rival trainee should've had a cameo before he turned, Inosuke's Mom should've been talked about before the fight. There are a lot more of such examples, Nezuko been more important too, I don't think the Demon King Tanjirou arc needed extending though, it was just the book end to the Infinity Castle arc, it was just Muzan corrupting the words of the Demon Slayer's leader without understanding them and the rights had gone on long enough.

The sentimentality of this story worked wonders for me though, as it would for most families. The reason why it's so popular is that literally every person could fall for it's sentimentality, Parents, Teens, kids etc. while not feeling like it's explicitly made for one group, it's very violent but kids can take that.

What else comes close? JJK? It's very popular among Teens and Young Adults, but no Mom would see it and go I have got to take my entire family to watch it.

Kimetsu hit the golden target of appealing to everyone. Mind you it came out during a time when Japanese moral was in the shitter and every other anime was Isekai slop or heavily western in its setting. All it had to do was not royally suck ass in both story and production to become a mega hit. Also Tanjiro is the most selfless shounen protag in forever so even parents and grandparents appreciate him.
