>>287444025These are not actual demons from nether realms. The most commonly posited explanation in-settings is that they are super-predators who evolved to prey on humans. In actuality they act more like magical terminators. You cannot reason with them. You cannot bargain with them. They appear to be rational creatures, and mostly they are, but when they see a human, the logic and reason they use in interactions with each other shut off immediately. A demon had easier time accepting his own death than deciding that killing humans is wrong on principle, and not because he needs to temporarily abstain from it for specific reasons.
