The weird thing about romcom/isekai protagonists isn't that they're liked for being "nice". It's that they exist in a bubble where they have literally no competition. Nobody else is interested in their love interest at all, and vice-versa. My Dress Up Darling hinges entirely on Marin being Gojosexual.

And this isn't exclusive to male protagonists, it applies even more to female ones actually.
>>
so?
>>
it's extremely common for a rival to be introduced in romcoms and for that to be the drama keeping the main couple from getting together for that year, though
>>
>>287454967
The weird thing is that you live in a bubble where teenagers evaluate partners on some kind of objective scale instead of randomly arbitrarily developing crushes and suffering from terminal oneitis that blinds them to other prospects.
>>
>>287454967
You literally see Marin turn down a bunch of nanpa bros because they made fun of her gudzu
>>
>>287454967
It's not that weird because of rivals>soap opera>drama>ntr baiting pipeline. It lost its appeal because of blackpilled generation, the mindset that you can put more effort into courting and win the girl does not work anymore
>>
>>287454967
While I dont like NTR I do kind of get why it exist in this aspect because in a lot of stories it does feel like its hard to justify why the main girl likes the main guy over other people. Honestly the no other guys exist or any other male characters are already married or engaged makes it more believable.
>>
>>287456895
>>287456696
Sounds like a "you" problem if I would say so myself
>>
>>287455943
she turns down random background characters on several occasions but none of their male classmates are after her despite her being a 10/10 goddess
>>
>>287457664
because they know that she's a fetishistic otaku weirdo who pigs out on her own unhealthy food and gets angry at you for pointing it out
>>
A lot of romsekai's have that though. The Familiar of Zero is very beloved and it has multiple sexy bulls (Wardes and Julio) and Louise makes it all the way to the damn altar with one of them. The problem is that I don't understand what this added to the show? At best it's meaningless drama that adds side-character padding to a genre that is already heavily criticized for dragging it's knuckles and at worst it's the author's thinly veiled betrayal fetish.
You're also asking to supply more sexy boys to a straight male target audience and the demand for that is nothing. On the one hand men sexually fantasize about women but their power fantasies involve beating or winning over other men, but this is communicated much more compellingly via combat than some kind of sex competition which is ultimately going to do nothing but add a bunch of jobbers that nobody is very interested in unless you have a bunch of women or gay men watching for some reason.
>>
>>287457773
>sexy bulls
>>
>>287454967
They're not living in the online mental illness memescape that you do anon.
>>
>>287454967
So you watched your first popular romcom and are now making an ignorant sweeping generalization about the whole genre?
>>
>>287454967
Wrong. If anything isekai actually added the layer of "she likes him because he is powerful/rich."
What's with all these threads, accusing isekai of holding typical 2000s romcom/(battle-)harem/urban-fantasy LN/manga flaws that isekai actually mitigates compared to those older ones, lately? I guess the historical revision regarding isekai so far was still not enough for OP and others.
>>
sonobisque is female wish fulfillment romcom

>it applies even more to female ones actually
The yuri genre (which is published right alongside all those romcoms) has plently of love polygons and even ex-lovers, yet people who aren't yuri fans think that these don't count because they involve only girls 99% of the time. Don't say it applies to female protagonists when hardly anyone takes female love rivals seriously. What people really want is more male competition.
>>
>>287454967
Gojo saw Jujus shaved pussy, imprinted it in his mind but never had a second thought about it. I know he's obsessed with Marins neck but it's still unexplainable how he can have normal conversation with Juju at all given how freaked out he gets with other people.
>>
speaking of Sono Bisque, why was it so rushed at the end? Author wanted to do something different?
>>
>>287464446
Author a sick.
>>
>>287464446
I think that the author kinda has to end it after reaching peak cosplay. It's their fault for being bad at pacing that it feels rushed but I don't think they have it in them to top Haniel.
>>
>>287454967
Yep, Marin had little to no competition. Juju never mattered one bit, Gojo was always going to fall for her
>>
>>287454967
There's some stories that got what you're looking for
>>
>>287454967
>It's that they exist in a bubble where they have literally no competition
This happens and people either scream
>NTRNTRNTRNTR
or
>NO CHANCE LOL NO CHANCE LOL NO CHANCE LOL
You're noticing this but fail to notice the flipside. And Marin isn't a good example since she had """competition"""" with like 3 other girls. Or maybe it's just 2. Not exactly a 1 on 1 bubble.
>>
>>287464481
You could see all the setup for the Haniel fallout, but then she just speedran them dating and timeskip to marriage while ignoring all the drama potential.

>>287464470
That makes sense, I could feel this was ended early for reasons that weren't the axe

Aishiteru Game had a "rival" and /a/ lost their shit (by which I mean a couple of schizos ruined the threads).
>>
Is this good or not?
>>
>>287455139
Correction:
It WAS extreme common but the people cried NTR every time and now everything is bland vanilla romance with no drama at all
>>
>>287457752
like that would stop teenage boys from thinking with their dicks. hell, there are grown ass men who simp for twitch thots online, trying to date the crazy hot nerd in class pales in comparison
>>
>>287455139
Correction:
It's WAS extremely common. But the retards cried NTR every time and now everything is bland vanilla romance without a hint of drama
>>
Because those so called romcoms are actually narratives where the world twists itself to be nice for the protagonist, the fantasy is not for them to have a romance with a beautiful girl, it's for a beautiful girl to unconditionally love them, no different than a mother, so of course the only circumstance where competition can exist is if they are designer losers who are not even recognized by the love interests.
>>
honest question,. if Marin was in your high school class.. would u pick her over nowa or the other chicks or dudes??
>>
>>287466555
How's that different from a story about a rich 6'6" Chad falling for some mid tier Becky, who has been pumped and dumped, and only has eyes for her?
>>
>>287466625
It is not? Same escapism and wish fulfillment just for a different audience
>>
>>287466573
Gojo didn't pick Marin for like 100+ chapters
He was friends with her and she was the one gushing her panties secretly from the start
>>
>>287466573
>Nowa
I go with Nowa
>>
>>287466625
The difference is that you are never going to watch this story.
>>
>>287466625
cause josei usually have better writing than shonen romcoms
>>
>>287466555
>the world twists itself
Twisting from what? Muh realism? Counterpoint: what would it even add to the story? If you were actually a fan of this genre the last thing you’d want is more stalling.
>designated loser
I’m really curious what the alternative is here.
>>
>>287466573
Marin is a once-a-lifetime girl. I would definitely spill spaghetti and attempt to ask her out or I'd always regret not trying.
>>
>>287466444
Despite all the shit we talk it was a solid 9/10 imo
>>
>>287454967
Unrelated but as lonely as I am, I have never understood the appeal of those two genres.
>>
>>287454967
Which is fine.

It was completely possible that they would have gone on to fall in love with someone else if the protag hadn't met them, its just how fate played out. They end up sharing good experiences with THAT person.

>Nobody else is interested in their love interest at all, and vice-versa.
thats the whole point of romcom/slice-of-life. You already know how the story will end, you are kept at the edge of your seat with the drama and obstacles to the finale of the story. Some stories like (Love Is War) webm related throw some other characters and twists in there to remind the audience what could be. But they remember to keep it sweet and the audience satisfied.
>>
>>287462185
>>
>what, a story is about 2 characters who interact with each other!?
>RAWRKUASHDKFJHDSKJFH I DEMAND THESE 2 PEOPLE NEVER TALK TO EACH OTHER INSTEAD
>THAT WOULD BE A BETTER STORY
seething fatty incels who stared at girl's boobs completely confused when girls don't run away with disgusted looks on their faces when they talk a male character
>>
>>287470780
exactly. They are pissed the characters in the story are actually attracted to each other and make moves to get them closer, instead of being repulsed. These shows aren't for incel losers- despite what people say. It's for those who have been in relationships like that in their youth, their past or their present. We feel nostalgic for anime/manga like this. We don't need it to reflect how real life is.
>only real ones will truly understand
its not for those who have never been there
>>
>>287469912
Fuck Nowa
Marry Nowa
Kiss Nowa
>>
>>287454967
Current generation is so mentally fragile they can't handle any sort of conflict at all, so you get all these "chilling" "slow life" bs where nothing really happens and everything is given to the protagonist for free.
This type of Isekai and the average modern romcom has basically the same target audience.
>>
Why are NTR fags so allergic to cute, happy things?
>>
>>287470864
they ignore all their drama-ridden shoujo NTRfests and focus on the happy ones because they can't stand the thought someone not being as miserable as them

And for good reason doubleposting bro: Because even without ANY competition whatsoever, the NTRfags STILL continue to infest the Sono Bisque Doll community.
Having any kind of romantic competition would make the cuckposting even worse.
Ever since the anime adaptation, it's been impossible for any Sono Bisque Doll thread to go without dozens of cuckposters baiting for (you)s like YOU.

That and the general hype to getting her favorite cosplay made and Gojo being relatively professional about it. After the first time she just got more used to it too.
