>the future of the Yu-Gi-Oh anime is youtube shorts that nobody watches about characters nobody cares about
How did we end up here?
>>
>>287464089
>characters nobody cares about
So all ygo after the original?
>>

it's over..

Konami is full of retards that should be axed. Has been this way for at least a decade.
>>
The game got power crept to the point it became impossible to make entertaining as a spectator.
Rush Duel anime was good and did well to market the game but reportedly the staff don't really know what to do with it after Go Rush.
It's possible that with the OCG still surviving with no anime advertising it that Konami has judged it as being unnecessary. Perhaps they think shorts are all people will even bother with in "the Tiktok generation."
Also even if Konami wanted to make a new anime, they've gotten into an entirely different rhythm of how packs and decks are designed with them being far more streamlined which means that to make a new anime based around dueling, they'd need to either retool the way that they make packs or figure out some solution to the MC making the same plays every duel. Think of, like, Blackwings, and how even though they got so many cards during the 5D's era only about a half dozen them were actually good with the rest being played mainly to get more names in the deck for cards like Whirlwind and Vayu.

it died with Takahashi, just let it go.

All the series besides Arc-V were good though
>>
>both Gallop and Bridge died
cursed franchise
>>
It's doubly funny since Branded is the kind of storyline that would probably be modestly successful as a seasonal
>>
>>287464975
Don't kid yourself, outside of the novelty of it being a TCG the actual Branded storyline is the type of bottomfeeder Narou slop that gets dismissed outright by even normalfags these days.

There's nothing new to advertise, and modern gameplay is too fast and brutal to make for good television.

Shueisha is likely in limbo as to what to do with yugioh. Jump deals with a lot more franchises. They're not used to the creators of their big franchises dying, you already see this play out with dragon ball and toriyama. The konami chronicles anime work pretty good as a stalling mechanism or to test the reception of shorts. But if there's going to be a 2027 long form anime, it would likely have to be in preproduction by now. There's no way to know if they're actually planning anything though, they're quiet until they announce and most manga/anime leakers don't give a shit about a property like yugioh.

The only way for Yu-Gi-Oh to possibly get anywhere from this point is a full-on remake of the Yuugi storyline faithful to the manga. And only a CHANCE. A low chance but a chance nonetheless.
>>
>>287464089
Kept creating new gimmicks that just made the game less and less interesting. Also monster designs just became lame.

Remaking DM almost immediately after Kaz died seems in very poor taste

Branded should've been weekly along with Charmers, Dyke Striker and World Legacy.

Yugioh could literally pump out every genre at this point to make their own multimedia empire rivaling Pokeshit if they were actually smart.

sorry an asterisk here, not including the first one that was a bunch of different sets of cards because it had a lot of great ones
the zeus/melffy/trishula/six sam ones still live rent free in my head

The powercreep got too absurd for any "normal" YGO series at this point. Characters would combo off for 8 minutes straight, cycling through 25 cards and explain their 3 boss monsters for another 3 minutes. Then the 2nd turn player looks at a full board of omni-negated and possible handtraps left and concedes. Wow what a good anime that would be...
>>
>>287464089
Abyss should've been an actual anime instead of shorts. It would've done just as well as the other random shit we get every season nowadays.
>>
>>287468981
Konami hasn't built itself up enough to lead production on that.
>>
Honestly, using the actual card storylines would work better as a commercial anyways. That's exactly what everyone did back then with toys.

We're nerfing everything, so they aren't paying for a faithful representation, just look at what happened to Rise Falcon or even fucking Mirror Force Dragon randomly being changed completely, which really pisses me off.

It's the anime, they wouldn't end on a negate field, they'd end on some big beater with protection and burn.
Now in OCG Structures they just skip the combo and end on the toxic field but that really feels like an admission that it's not fun to watch and basically nobody cares about Structures.

You're saying that like the anime ever followed the rules of the real card game closely. They can make up whatever they want based on the show's plot to keep the 8 year old watching entertained instead of making it faithful to the TCG and following proper combo chains or resolving effects.
>>
>>287464089
Make a real show about these characters. Make me care about them.
>>
>>287469093
The anime effect of Mirror Force Dragon wouldn't really work in the real game, and it was also based on the manga effect of Mirror Force.
>>
>>287469645
Duelist Kingdom was made before the card game even existed, you retarded monkey. Don't bring your worthless opinions if you're an anime-only, and most likely also a dub-only.
>>
>>287469645
Ultimately the anime exists to promote the game. Sure the anime could become original, or dumb down all the rules texts, but that would just create even more problems.
It fails to actual introduce new young watchers into the actual card game by alienating them. And OCG/TCG players miss the much sought after "anime original" chase cards, because they're lame as fuck.
>>
>>287469739
>crash into a stronger monster
>burn for everything weaker than destroy them
It wouldn't have even been broken because nobody is fucking using Critias, especially when he's unsearchable. No one will be retarded enough to ever trigger this with an attack or targeting. Kaiba cleverly turned Mirror Force into an offense, that's what it's supposed to do.

Mixed up with Odd Eyes Wing Dragon, admittedly.

I need my Warrior and by related extension D.D. anime
I need my Monarch anime
>>
>>287464089
>that nobody watches
The albaz episodes have almost half a million views each with the first one almost having a million views. I'm pretty sure that's way more views than what the average seasonal anime gets
>>
>>287465035
Seriously, it's bizarre how anyone can pretend to care about card storylines. The whole appeal of YGO is how the monsters are a reflection of a character's personality. Without that element the monsters themselves are very one dimensional with surface level theming.
>>
>>287470407
>The whole appeal of YGO is how the monsters are a reflection of a character's personality.
no one has ever given a shit about that anon. At least not past the duel city arc 20 years ago.
People now would rather see the characters from the deck they actually play animated.
>>
>>287470407
Monsters from storylines are not designed to be extensions of any anime character.

>90% proof

The level of protection required to make an anime boss good in the modern game would make most nugioh players seethe if it gets ported over

you said "no one watches" aka views.
They youtube shorts have more views than the average seasonal show
>>

Not OP, for one. I rate an anime's success on a different scale. those youtube views aren't that great when you consider 10s of millions pay to watch an average anime through streaming now.
