Another me within my heart sounds more odd to me. How would you comprehend that image? It's not a common abstraction of heart to be invoked in people's minds, not the immediately correct one anyway. If the reader knows the nuance of 心 and see the original text, it's inferable, but that's not the convenience the translation will have and it's an extra unnecessary layer of abstraction, even though a common one in slightly similar contexts, that doesn't really bring any positive.Mind just connects well with everything else we have here, consciousness, coping about split persona, a literal projection of a broken, empty face (head), and it's immediately obvious to the reader for them to make the connection for their comprehension. Within myself is too vague a wording that can be misinterpreted as well. If something is transliteral already and works, just use it.

She could just be using real nicotine (or some other drug or even magical herb) for relief, while still only using her own magic when she does those special puffs/blows to cast the spell.
