>>287475887After a certain point adding new characters is a crutch for a writer who doesn't actually know what to do with anything they have set up previously.Big example: My Hero Academia. Hori does good character designs, and the new character he introduced late into the story were good, but also totally irrelevant. He just kept introducing more heroes and more heroes and more characters and more more more... but when push came to shove it was all just wasting time because at the end of the day only like 4 people in the entire bloated cast actually matter and everyone else is just smoke and mirrors. MHA doesn't really want to be about Class-1A, or the larger hero vs villain conflict, or any of that. If its not about OFA vs AFO, its filler at the end of the day, because thats the story that Hori wrote. You just need all of these other characters doing things to cut away to because Deku doing Big Punch again can't maintain interest on its own for very long, we have to bloat out the cast and split the focus because otherwise the story is extremely straightforward and over quickly.

>>287475887Happens all the time.Usually when something starts out great, but then it turns out the author's only idea to move the story forward is to keep introducing new girls. So the show itself was never good, it's just fir first girl's story that was good.
