Episode 2 aired
>>287500026The flow of the story is a bit confusing, and there are a lot of names, but it was nice to see everything connected
Considering picking this up even though I already have enough on my plate this season. The concept sounds very interesting but I imagine it's one of those ensemble cast anime where things get lost in the transition from manga to anime.
>>287500026Honestly, I don't remember ANYTHING from the first episode.
Wakarimasu
>>287500026Damn bitch really died in her (presumably) early 60s.
>>287500484Smoking kills.
Not sure how I feel about this desu. I feel like the writing is pretty good, but at the same time I can't say I'm enjoying it that much.
>>287501140I'm just here cause I like when girls sing desu
>>287501140Probably because it's skipping around too much, you're really not getting the opportunity to get to know a character and care about them.
>>287500026I must be retarded because I didn't understand SHIT of what happened this episode. I know there were flashbacks, but it was too confusing to keep up about wich cute girl morphed into wich disgusting hag.
I think it's pretty easy to understand for me, I just can't remember the characters names to save my life.
This anime reminds me why "Class S" stuff have been dead for almost two decades now.
>>287503033Look at the phone that is used in flashback sequence. It's clearly Showa.
>>287500026is this yuri?
>>287504328Class S(hit)
>>287504328Maybe
Is this how it is in the manga too or is the director having a laff?
>>287502304kek same
The genre is not really my thing but I decided to check it out because I saw a clip from it and the animation was so good. And yeah, it looks so fucking good, this is Madhouse yeah?Basically it's yuri academy? Count me in.
the ep was somewhat better at presenting the story - i literally couldn't understand what was going on in the corresponding manga chapter when i read it last week. now i know there were three niggas, and takehara aunt is the surviving one that's not named in the ep/chapter title
shimura's girls are the pretties
>>287505576It’s Class S academy
I thought this was cute girls doing cute things but it's too highbrow for me.
>>287505976CGDCTs born in shoujo
>this filters peoplethe absolute state of nu-/a/
>>287506028Ehh, anthology/omnibus stories are almost never popular.
>>287505576Madhouse, yeah. Directed by the same guy that did the NANA adaptation
>OMG ARE YOU TANAKA>.....no>Ohh damn well sorry btw here is my Dead Wife's Secret Message go ahead and read it even though you're not who it's addressed to and I don't even fucking know you>......ok????????????
Holy shit this is peak. So much recontextualization with the characters.
>>287500261It’s actually easier to see in the anime than in the manga, so it’s kind of the reverse. It’s not lost in translation, it’s easier to see the character connection.
>>287505103Pretty close to the manga. It's not skipping things, it's like this in the manga
>34 repliesDo we not like this one, bros??
>>287500392This. I don't really understand how this connected to anything
>>287508142People got filtered hard. Can only consoom aesthetic Yuri like Cosmic Princess Kaguya
>>287508142I haven't watched it yet. Keep the thread alive while tomorrow and I'll chime in with a banger post like "good episode" or "I might drop this idk"
So that evil bitch Ibuki ends up as an unmarried crotchety old hag abusing new theatre kids
>>287508607Allegedly
It's kino. I watch so much garbage anime sometimes I forget that every once in a while the Japanese make good shows too
how did braids die
>>287508142I'm liking it so far, but so far I don't have much to say about it.
>>287505864I only watched the first episode, it seems the story structure is just bad.
We have a few minutes left to enjoy Friday
>>287508901By being an idiot.
When do they smash clams
I liked the episode and didn't find it confusing (except for their names, I had to recheck a few times who is who), but this type of omnibus stories clearly has its limitations. I want to be learning more about characters instead of jumping between short inconsequential stories.
Gorgeous show but I really don't feel much of anything from it.
>>287508308"Aesthetic" Yuri >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Class S(lop)There is a reason why the genre is very fucking dead. As in, ACTUALLY dead, not when /a/ says "Mecha is dead" and they mean they don't like recent ones. Class S is basically extinct.
The constant PoV swapping and time jumps don't do anything but hurt the show, I think. I don't think there's much gained from this sort of presentation style and it feels like there's a decent bit lost.
>>287508421BasedOn the edge of my seat waiting for your post
>>287510167I didn’t know using your brain was that big of a deal.
>>287510878You don't really need to use your brain to understand this, it's bad either way.
>>287508142I do but there's not much to talk about for now since the first two episodes been mostly episodic. Let it build up some momentum first.
The way this episode tied into the first one was great, good stuff
>>287511443Eh, I found it rather unconvincing. I am fine with that bitch now being a teacher who everyone's afraid of, but the now old lady supporting Kinue's decision to go to Awajima is too weak of a connection.
>>287512762Nta but it's a realistic connection. The granny/aunt is just a spectator of two different people from two different generations going to the same school. I can see that happen in real life.
>>287513051I'm not saying it's unrealistic, I just feel like it's too weak to tie the flashback into the current timeline.
Depressed hag sex
>>287513076not really
Good episode
>>287512762>>287513076It is a tenuous link, but I think that's the whole point. The story is about the school itself, told from many different perspectives. The narrator from the beginning of this episode is only really there to bridge two different time periods. Also, we now know the teacher's backstory, which might end up being a point of conflict with another student who has relatives that knew her from their time at the school together. I'm sure she doesn't want people to know about how she once (allegedly) drove a classmate of hers to suicide. That's pretty fucking bad optics for a teacher. It could also amount to nothing - I think it's a realistic ending to the story that the bully managed to dodge the repercussions of her actions but ended up mellowing out and reflecting on herself later in life. I'd like to get her perspective in the present.
Otoutobros, they are laughing at us...>>287502382Same. The designs are distinct enough to remember who is who, and it's easy to understand what is going on.
>>287503424The stacy stride>>287503943The virgin skip
>>287506830The latter was written by Onoda, not by Emi. He probably wanted some solace since this is the only chance he'll get to do it.
>>287509855it's friday
The creature.
>>287510167Moeshit is the otaku take on Class S. The genre is alive and well
>>287518511Asa...?
>>287517704Women are so wild when they aren't written for incels
It's about time we had another class s anime
>>287518501>Moeshit is the otaku take on Class S. The genre is alive and wellIt's not, and I don't think you fully understand what Class S mean if you think moeshit is that.
What a heartbreaking episode. I'm really glad I picked this up. Kinue is the cutest.
>>287515363>suicideShe wrote the letter because she got a terminal illness.
>>287508891They would have had an excellent career and a beautiful relationship if it hadn't been for that abusive witch.
>>287521495Both moeshit and class S is about pure maidens interacting on an all-female enviroment and focus on their intense girl crushes but those crushes are the proof of how young and pure the girls are. In Class S, we see the girls growing up and eventually settling down with a man but otakus want perennial little girls so the girls are always the same kawaii uguu and always available to male otakus
>>287522409Then why does she call her stupid? As in, "you idiot, why would you go and do a thing like that?"Not saying your wrong, that's just what I presumed was happening in that scene.
>>287525131I was under the impression she lied about suicide to get her to come visit before she died, and that's why she called her an idiot. But I can't say for sure. It was pretty vague. Maybe the manga is clearer.
>>287525217I haven't read imthe manga so rhis is all just my own speculation, but I'm sure I've seen people react to suicides that way before in Jap media. It's a bit weird that there's such a big timeskip, but it makes sense that she'd want to confess to the girl she loved way back when before taking her life. I don't think she attempted suicide after so much time had passed exclusively because of what happened at the school back then, but it was surely a regret she had never been able to get over, so it probably played some part in it.
>>287502382same
>>287525217She's facing impending death and saw it as punishment for her sins. So she confessed to Emi. An actual confession, not a love confession. The hospital scene was about Emi not forgiving Onoda ... or did she?
>>287508142I was busy during the airing day, I got around to it and so far I'm liking the art style and its interesting to relive the time when Class S was all the only way to represent yuri/shoujo ai themes.
Yeah. I'm thinkin this one is gonna be a CERTIFIED KINO brosFiltered fags stay outMADHOUSE wins again
So let me see if I got this all>60 million years ago, kinue's (blondish hair from modern day) grandma was excited for her childhood friend to go to awajima>she wanted her to become a star and stuff>but she never did, she dropped out quickly, due to several reason, but it can be reduced down to bullying by others because she was more talented>she didn't keep up with kinue's grandma out of shame probably>the girl who had a totally not lesbian crush on her IN awajima attempted to an hero (?) because she was partially responsible for the dropping out>the bully then went on to become a professor there (also failed at her dreams of becoming a star LOL!)>CURRENT day kids know of her reputation as a stone cold bitch because of her history at the school of being a cunt, especially from stories from their parents who were in her year>but she appears now to not be that cuntish, atleast not to our "main" character the cute short hair girl>this is possibly because she realized how much of a cunt she was during school and she caused one student with great potential to abandon her dreams and another to kill herself (possibly), atop of probably many others she hurt>it's likely that she feels guilt over this and is seeking to atone by cultivating the potential in the current generation, but w/e now I'm speculatingAnything I'm missing apart from the names which I will never be able to keep track of?
>>287531344>kinue's (blondish hair from modern day) grandma She isn't her grandma, but some sort of relative.Everything else is either correct or debatable (where we don't know the answer). I doubt it was a suicide attempt though.
>>287524868Okay, I think you are confusing a lot of things. Most moeshit don't have yuribait in them, subtext at most. Class S were explicitly yuri until the like the last 5 minutes. Also, there is more to Class S than the whole "lesbianism is just a phase". Class S wasn't even aimed at male otakus, it was aimed at women, this is why early on yuri genre fans were 80% female, while nowadays it's 50/50 leaning towards males.
>>287531959I thought it was a le suicide attempt because of her wording in the letter>I decided it's time for my life to be extinguishedAlthough, it could very well be some kind of life threatening illness that she decided to not fight against
>>287531344>it's likely that she feels guilt over this and is seeking to atone by cultivating the potential in the current generation, but w/e now I'm speculatingthere's a bit more to it, the manga shows it in the first volume, we may see it next ep>60 million years ago, kinue's (blondish hair from modern day) grandma was excited for her childhood friend to go to awajimaaunt
