They seem to have this mentality of needing to be polite to others and roundabout about their issues, especially in work-related stuff. So Araki probably felt like he had to, and went with the minimum possible effort. Kubo's nearly two decades younger than him, and in general always seems to have had a slightly more punk vibe to him to begin with.
