The fact that it still has the knight's barracks and training grounds shows that it still retains some of its martial nature, even if it's now largely a residence rather than a fortification.

im ngl I dont like the direction of the last 2 books. Gods were cool as a final boss type deal after books if build up but im tired of them being more active in the story and absolutely hate time travel here. Japanese always seem to add it to fantasy randomly and it always feels shallow. Hoping the next books pulls back from that. the world is rich and interesting enough without resorting to it.
