It is pretty funny that they spent the first half of the episode in one rest stop, and the second half of the episode at a different rest stop, both times at night. Which gives the impression that they only drive for a couple of hours. A whole episode centered around characters sitting around, eating, and spewing expository dialogue in the dullest way possible. At least they got it out of the way.
It's lowkey kind of fucked up that they only gave Yuru some jelly doughnuts and left him in the car while they ate actual food at the restaurant.

FMA is incredibly average, but it had solid execution in some parts, and Tsugai without an actual antagonistic foundation to drive the story seriously hurts the pacing of the story and development of characters. In a manga that's serialized MONTHLY, adapting a monster of the week formula is a DEATH SENTENCE.

I've read all the scans so far and it's honestly good. The stakes don't feel as high as in FMA (japanese villages' century old quarrels vs a demonic being trying to sacrifice millions of people to become a God) but it's well-written enough, the manga have some nice moments.
