Like yeah, you can say its because he just watched her die and that's partially right, but its also because doing that reminded him of IP which he uses in the next loop on top of the normal emotional stuff with the gesture.But the biggest weird cut to me is discussion of miasma because that's about to come up in a big way and they really haven't mentioned it at all or dwelt on it when they spend a lot of time explaining it in the novel.On the flipside to the novel, the anime does present the method for calling Gian (now Joseph, rename apparently because his original name is a Doraemon reference) down while the novel doesn't seem to (or I missed one line somewhere) and its a little weird Subaru comes to that conclusion and action.Ram being part of the solution and the bird thing coming up are both better, the set up is in the novel for the birds but they just kind of walk through sand time without issue once they decide to go in a random direction to avoid the warped space. Emilia gets pretty heavy cuts to everything they were doing since she doesn't create towers anymore and no emphasis is placed on reinforcing the carriage with ice among other little things she does. Notably though mentioned they didn't show her actually treating Ram and she's just kind of standing around watching Betty healing Ram but that's not the magic treatment and in the context of Ram using magic. Ram's body is right now glossed over and I'm not sure what they're doing with that, there should have been a full explanation as well as conversations showing concern and what Emilia needs to do.The fight is truncated, they start basically in the middle of the flowers instead of working their way into them and there's no explanation of Meili's limitations

Its somewhat understandable from a simple choking perspective, but its actually really important Ram make Subaru spit up all the sand.
