Honestly, the show is getting better. The characters are all good and the pacing isn't schizo any more. The OP is mid but I can appreciate it as a giant teaser of all the Great Ghosts (they're in clear reverse order) while not actually spoiling the designs since Seira mixes them together.
My biggest problem is the premise. "The AI kills anyone who tries to sing" is just such a dumb fucking setup I cannot believe the world ever got to that point. That said I'm pretty sure "MiucS" the system is doing this because it's trying to stop the real MiucS (the one we see watching the music videos) from being awakened by music.

Agematsu has a deep and storied history of ghostwriting stuff, lying about not having worked on something, and downplaying his involvement in things. He wrote entire events for the Symphogear gacha and was forced to admit he'd done them after the fact. He's written entire games he refuses to take credit for after being called on to help. And you can see his writing all over this in the way the themes line up with Symphogear.

Symphogear S1 ends with a big subtextual spiel about how music connects people across language by embodying emotions. GC so far is hammering in how music is a symbol of freedom and how it connects people's emotions across time. I don't think you can get more blatant than that but you seem to think "designs" and "fights" are in any way related to themes. Symphogear is also somewhat heavily borrowing from Nasushit the same way this is. Then you have Seria faking her death to join a secret organisation just like what happens in Symphogear, complete with friends crying at her photo. Seria herself becoming possessed by ghosts of famous historical figures and those in general being relevant is aping Fine's whole deal to a degree. There's more stuff too and there will continue to be more stuff. It's nearly impossible to not see the way things line up.

It's correct but doesn't come across as being particularly vulgar is the point so it's imperfect. For a line that's meant to be jarring enough to call out as expressly rude for the context, raising the expletive would have been appropriate.

It's interesting how this is in many ways the polar opposite of Princession Orchestra. That was very glacially paced, while this moves more like Symphogear, at a rate of knots. Though I'm glad we're getting character moments with our cast, to help build them up.

Symphogear moves fast due to its length, yet its first two episodes feel a lot better paced than GC's were.
Also, another for the bingo if anyone's keeping track: this series also probably opens with a flash forward just like Symphogear does. Huge chance that the episode 1 concert is happening at the end of the series and it's Seria having become a singer now that music is free again. There's no context for it otherwise, it's not a dream she was having, and it fits with her narrating the whole story like past events.

Actually today's episode confirmed that's not the case. It spoils all individual ghosts (and she might not even henshin into all of them, since her Tesla outfit is in there but she didn't actually get him inside her in the show) but her transformation today resulted in a fusion of Cleo's, Caesar's, and the other guy's outfits. So it seems she can mix and match the ghosts inside her and which powers and looks she has at a time.

It's been tripping me up that Seria is also a regular Italian word but I just remembered that music internationally uses a bunch of Italian words for historical reasons so now I wonder if it's also meant as a reference to Opera Seria or if it's pure coincidence.

True for people born into this world, but older people seem to have had a chip implanted too. The monk seems to still remember a time before MiucS yet he also had to remove his own chip. Unless the series is also alternate history on top of sci-fi future, which is extra weird if you don't make it clear. But it probably is something that will be addressed.

Most likely a combination of creative decisions and practicality.
The duets have been used as a moment of Seria reaching out to the ghost with sympathy and has successfully reached a point of befriending them. Not a moment meant as combat. The focus on their cinematography being more music video than combat is clearly intentional, meant to contrast with action scenes.
Another would be practical in that matching action scenes to a song limits both how you can use the song and how you can make the scene. For Ghost Concert's obvious budget restrictions, this is certainly preferable to them just showing, for instance, characters doing static jump kicks while sparkling and they're just incidentally using a vocal track as the BGM.

I feel like they really shot themselves in the foot by calling this "the next anime in the song battles series" and "the successor to Symphogear" on that front. I don't mind what this series does but it's certainly not what they tried to sell it as, so it's not surprising if people coming for that are bothered. Princession is a lot more Symphogear in those regards.

On one hand that's true, on the other it deprives the series of the absolute kino that is characters beginning to sing the OP in the middle of a fight.
