As much as I love Kamina, this scene hit harder than every single one of his and Simon's, because this guy was the everyman, the "no one special" who just wanted a better life.

We can ALL be the hero in our story. That's the point of almost every single myth and legend. When the prince goes to the cave to fight the dragon, it's not because he's materially the blood descendant of the monarch, it's because that identity symbolizes the sovereignty of the individual in his own existential quest.
