>Shinichirō Watanabe, the mastermind behind Cowboy Bebop and Space Dandy, is a legend who has proved himself time and time again by creating timeless classics. Not to mention even his other works are exceptionally popular.
>But there is no doubt that he excels at creating the kind of absurd, humorous concepts and executes them exceptionally well, almost as if he were parodying reality.
Lazarus in mid air
>He had hopes of returning to his absurd roots, but when Adult Swim came knocking with full funding and a blank check, they made one thing clear: they didn’t want another Dandy. They wanted something serious and something darker. And that’s how the dystopian world of Lazarus was born.
>A darker vision inspired by real-world pain
>Adult Swim’s idea was not bad. Although Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are immensely successful, Space Dandy felt much more lackadaisical and did not have a massive grip on the audience, slowly being forgotten.
Did they make the right move? Now that the dust is settled, what show is more forgotten?
>>
Absolutely nobody saw Space Dandy or cares about it.

>Absolutely nobody saw Space Dandy
Not even the people who made it?
>>
>>287611361
False, especially on /a/
>>
>>287610666
Watanabe has never made anything good, his only talent is calling other people with actual talent to make things for him.
>>
>>287611361
I do
>>
>>287610666
He didnt write bebop, and a big part of what makes it good is the work of the animators and production team. He didnt write champloo either; im not sure about dandy now and Im too lazy to look, but none of those stand out for magnificent direction, no matter what west tourists say. Bebop has many episodes that seem somewhat weak and poorly directed, like the one with the clown. Its not a hack because it never was good
>>
>>287611361
Space Dandy is a hidden gem.
>Actually funny
>Great art
>Great music
>Consistent quality animation

People just go filtered by the episodic element
>>
>>287610666
>noooo I want every anime to be LE ZANNY
>>
>>287611361
This is bait. watch threads were running faster that than anyhting on /a/ in the last 10 years.
>>
>>287610666
it's remarkable how trash lazarus was
why do westerners ruin everything on purpose like it's their life goal
>>
>>287610666
Lazarus was so bland, man. It wasn't even terribly made, but the plot and characters were so unengaging.
Did they ever find the scientist guy in the end, or did it finish it in some kind of cliffhanger that'll never be resolved?
>>
>>287611862
Subhuman crossboarders from /co/ raiding the board isn't exactly a stamp of approval, but you're right that some "people" watched it.
>>
>>287611361
Fuck you, Space Dandy is my number 1
>>
>>287610666
I actually just got around to finishing Lazarus last night. Honestly I thought it was decent and most of its problems were typical Watanabe-isms that his other stuff all had (gay shit, political preaching, random jumps and lapses in logic, expecting the audience to care about characters we just met, style WAY over substance).
So idk why everyone was freaking out about it, it was a 7-8/10.

>>287612254
It actually did have a surprisingly conclusive and normal ending
>>
>>287615029
Is definitely the best thing Watanabe ever "made", but then again
>Watanabe involvement in the series was to make the phone calls
>>
>>287615219
>the best thing Watanabe ever "made"
that would be Samurai Champloo
>>
>>287610666
I have not seen anyone talk about Lazarus since it finished airing until now.
>>
>>287612254
>create bioweapon
>US government wants to use bio weapon
>nooooooo, I will poision the ENTIRE world with the bioweapon to expose the US government
Yeah....
>>
>>287610666
Hi Satan. I dropped Lazarus on the episode the mc was meeting his prison buddy and he was a transgender.

I do not tolerate jewish propaganda under any circumstance.

Thank you.
>>
>>287615790
You seen any of Watanabe's other shows?
>>
>>287615858
Cowboy bebop, space dandy and samurai champloo were pretty cool.
>>
>>287611361
I hate zoomers.
>>
>>287610666
I've only gotten a few episodes into multiple attempts at Space Dandy rewatches, but that's mostly only because I'm watching it along with new things that monopolize my attention, but I'm still more likely to watch Dandy again than Lazarus. It's more fun.
>>
>>287616183
And did any of those not have gay and/or tranny shit in them?
>>
>>287616447
Only played as laughs (samurai champloo) or tragedy (cowboy bebop with the guy who grew tits because of some drugs).
You know I thought your kind were supposed to be proud of splitting hairs, but you're really bad at it. Try using logic instead of fishing for low hanging gotcha moments that make you look retarded.
>>
>>287610666
I enjoyed Lazarus and that's all that matters
>>
>>287616727
Champloo had a whole scene where it cut away from the story and the narrator talked about how old Japan had loads of faggots and gay sex and western Christians introduced the idea that it was wrong to them. Was never relevant to any events in the story before or after.
Oh also there was that gay Dutch guy.
Don't know why anyone was surprised that this same director inserted gay and tranny characters into his new show 20 years of "social progress" later.
>>
>>287610666
Doesn't Lazarus have an implied male gay kiss involving Alex, obscured by some random object to keep it ambiguous? I swear, someone had clipped it.
>>
>>287610666
>is a legend
let's not wank the guy just because of cowboy bebop
>>
>>287617199
It's not going to work, anon. Trannies are a whole different breed of unacceptable.
>>
>>287617199
>western Christians
I haven't watched that show, but that false premise. The Bible always had 1 Corinthians 6:9. I wouldn't be surprised, based on this, that the show would actually depict the prosecution of Christians during the Edo period instead. That system turned out to be weaker, in case you didn't notice. It died.
>>
>>287618132
What point are you even trying to make retard?
>>
>>287616254
zoomers grew up with space dandy retard
>>
>>287610666
It was good
