I still feel it is too early to delve too deep into speculative theoryc rafting, but this most recent chapter may have locked into perspective the thematic choices behind Ch.1's promotional art.>Distorting one another - the CURSE called an ideal. > A salvation called HATREDGiven that Mikoma is depicted with Ebihara's leaf mask, we can infer he is meant to serve as a parallel with the latter. In summation: a man abused by his woman. Which is ironically what Mikoma scoffs at, but the imagery here suggests he will share a similar fate. It is also noted to be "prickly": with Ryo straight up telling the reader that no matter how beautiful the flower is in bloom: its thorns lie in wait. These cascade and veil a (dying?) Mikoma in the opening page. Which in a way subtlety imply Momiji heralds his downfall. If Momiji is in fact abusive and has a much more sinister side (which Mikoma's ideals blind him to) - it would explain why Roka appears so downtrodden and miserable despite trying his best to maintain appearances. I also wonder how the vengeful spirit of the mountain woman factors into all of this, but too early to speculate right now.

But it is rather self evident she dislikes his attachment to the mountain.
