This part is wrong. I don't know why the head is there, but it wasn't there because of this. Nikaido got the head from Kasukabe after he found it here. And obviously she couldn't have found the head before Curse was released. So Curse left it behind or something? Frankly, this whole "Curse took the head" subplot doesn't make sense at all.

>Dorohedoro and Nikaido are hunting sorcerers in The Hole, a place inhabited by humans and mutated humans that were experimented on by sorcerers.
>Sorcerers can teleport into The Hole using magically summoned doors. Sorcerers are not human even though they look like humans, they have a different anatomy.
>In the opening, Dorohedoro asks a guy called Matsumura if he's HIM. He foolishly tells him that the man who lives inside Dorohedoro's mouth told him, he isn't HIM. So Dorohedoro killed Matsumura.
>He was with a weak guy called Fujita, but Matsumura was still strong enough to summon a door after he died so Fujita escaped.

Baseball episode happens, Matsumura is stolen from the baseball match, then killed by Ebisu... I think without her using the black powder this time? Why was she so powerful here?

Kasukabe helped him unlock his edgy sorcerer powers. After he entered the sorcerer world, he had still rotten arms from his experiments on his arms. >Later on Shin becomes En's enforcer first, while Noi still trains to be a devil. Two men want to abduct them and make them their "partners" by force. Shenanigans ensue, both of them get taken out after they actually win their 1v1s vs Shin and Noi. As a byproduct of this fight, Risu is fully healed (initially En only resurrected his head and gave him a cyborg body) and is allowed to move around independently. The two guys who beat Shin and Noi are taken out with the help of Dorohedoro's new friends, piemakers.
>Said piemakers help Dorohedoro again later, when he decides to rescue Nikaido... right, Nikaido and Dorohedoro go to the sorcerer world to... find the guy who made Dorohedoro a lizard. They kill an innocent taxi driver family man because they can't pay him, Nikaido tries to solo En and his whole mansion, loses, but En almost takes out his own family. During Nikaido's loss she gets hit with En's magic that he later on uses to teleport her back to his mansion, that's why she was forced to become his partner during Blue Night.

>After the Blue Night, the pie contest closes out season 1. Nikaido is forced to be En's brainwashed bitch, she fights Dorohedoro under the Pieman persona (Tanba's wife). Chota prays to the devils, hoping she dies, so Dorohedoro wins and almost kills her. Nikaido's devil friend intervenes and turns Chota into Nikaido and removes the devil contract from Nikaido and places it into Chota.

Season 2 picks up right away. Kasukabe notices that these Cross-Eyes were worshipping someone who looked like Ai Coleman, a guy he knew back in The Hole, so they travel to The Hole for a bit, find Coleman's gramps and Ai Coleman's empty grave and they go back to the sorcerer world, sans Coleman's gramps and two useless humans, just Kasukabe and Johnson with Shin and Noi.

Meanwhile, we are introduced to the Cross Eyes boss's right hand man and his squad (all inferior to the guys at Kasukabe's wife's house). They are poor even though they could probably get away with stealing money or killing people for money. Maybe they got some black powder to sell from the people at Kasukabe's wife's house?

Nikaido and Dorohedoro meet Natsuki, a Cross Eyes wannabe who gives them expensive food and shelter and nothing else useful really. The devil who helped Nikaido teleport away from En and turned Chota into Nikaido is interrogated by Chidaruma, the main devil who rules all the sorcerer world and all the devils. He is cross with him because he hid the location and special powers (time magic) of Nikaido. Not sure if it's because he is En's buttbuddy and En wanted a Time Wizard, or because time magic is so rare that Chidaruma just wanted to see it. En wanted time magic because when he fought the Cross Eyes boss during his flashback movie, he supposedly killed him but not really and the Cross Eyes boss lived rent free in his head ever since then. The rest of En's flashback movie is probably made up.

Anyway, it just so happens that while Nikaido and Dorohedoro were filming the onsen episode, along with Natsuki, the following things happened elsewhere
>En found out his Nikaido was Chota, because Nikaido's devil friend lost his powers after angry Chidaruma turned him back into a sorcerer
>Ebisu left to see her parents, who hired a guy to summon a zombie-ghoul-monster doppelganger of Ebisu
>Said doppelganger kills Ebisu after Ebisu initially wins, because Fujita followed her and distracted her at the mansion
>Ebisu dies, but Fujita still uses her last black powder to beat the doppelganger
>Ebisu's death releases the lizard magic, so Dorohedoro loses his lizard head - but this does not revert the changes on the dead lizard head, for some reason (because it's already dead?)
>At the same time, En recovers from the shock of finding out he masturbated to Chota, tracks down Nikaido because... the contract still lives on inside her, like her flesh is inside En's body actually I think?

Risu was friends with a guy called Aikawa during the magic academy days, and Aikawa sounds just like Dorohedoro, and human faced Dorohedoro looks like Aikawa.

When? We don't see her ever experiment on Holians. Her magic was apparently too weak to transform anyone into a lizard, she could only turn herself into a dangerous lizard when under the influence of black smoke or maybe under extreme duress when zombie Matsumura attacked her. When she tried to do her henshin transformation sequence to protect herself and Fujita against Kasukabe with a gun, she turned into a tiny lizard-worm. Her concentrated smoke, which was recovered by En's subordinate, was strong enough to turn Noi into a monstrous lizard.

It is partially a joke (like refering to Spike from Bebop as Cowboy Bebop), partially a prediction how the plot will evolve. Based on what was basically spoiled by the voice acting in season 1 and the voices in my head (Inland Empire), I could already tell that the character we know as Kaiman won't always be Kaiman, and the Ai Coleman subplot pretty much confirms that Kaiman probably isn't just Risu's magic academy friend (Aikawa) with a lizard head. I think even the Kaiman that Nikaido recognizes as the man with the lizard head has changed into a different character before he was killed by En and the Kaiman that Nikaido recognized as the man with the lizard head also may have changed when he lost his head in season 1. He was a lot nicer after he lost his head, except to that one innocent taxi driver sorcerer who was just feeding a family of four kids.

Man, all this plot-hopping this season is crazy. I don’t remember season 1 being this chaotic. Feels like the show is blasting through the material at breakneck speed now. Just as I start getting invested in a scene, it cuts it short and jumps to a different set of characters only to cut that off too and move on to yet another scene. Rinse and repeat. I think the nature of Dorohedoros story means it's guaranteed to suffer when adapted into the 30-minute tv-show format. It was very much written to take advantage of the short rapid-fire chapter format of Manga in a way few stories ever are. just from the audio/voice acting alone you can tell it is the same voice during the hospital scene who takes the head away as the voice that leaves his body behind in season 2 episode 6. "Risu sounding edgy" voice.

My guess is that there's a natural assumption for the viewers (and readers?) to think that whatever took the head from the hospital destroyed it, or consumed it or something. But it didn't. The head just got preserved in whatever voidspace the man in the mouth exists and when the host of the body died the man in the mouth just went "fuck it i'm not carrying this shit around no more, i don't care". The head was taken away when Ebisu was semi-dead (turned into a zombie when Shin and Noi fought Kaiman and Nikaido in The Hole), and the head was taken away after Ebisu died (this episode).

I suppose the author maybe didn't have anything specific planned with the head when it was taken away initially and then decided to return it as a backup plan after Kaiman (question mark?) got killed earlier than expected in the story. But the anime is definitely connecting the head's disappearance and re-appearance with the thing that sounds like Risu that's inside Kaiman's head and its connecting its ability to do things outside of Kaiman's mouth with Ebisu's state of life. And at different points in season 1 En says that someone can be immune to magic while they're in the process of being affected by magic, and Ebisu is explicitly told that she's the one who "got in the way" of the man in the mouth.

I acknowledge that but it didn't have to be these CGI models. There's some things like concealing the Boss's face that they don't do as well here just because they don't have the same freedom do shade it in and cover it. As it is in the anime it's way to clear that Caiman is the Boss in the flashbacks. I still think they did an excellent job with everything else and to be fair the CGI-anime does look a lot better than a lot of others that I've seen. Anyway, I highly recommend anyone that likes the anime to read the manga to get that missing piece, it's worth it.
