He took a lot of shortcuts and clearly didn't spend a huge amount of time on getting into the head of a nonhuman, but it's still refreshing due to how rare it is. I was wondering how they'd square the circle of kemo being less intelligent while clearly being able to maintain a civilization at roughly our technological level, but I think the author solved that pretty well by making the difference be purely speed of learning and mental endurance. He also played fast and loose with evolution but maybe the kemonomi theory of evolution is still in its infancy?Overall really good even if you're not into kemonomis.
