But beyond my personal attachment to her, I find the story to work way better as it goes in the manga. The anime is amazing for the atmosphere and music and touching moments but I feel like it fails to show the complicated relationship Misaki and Satou have. Anime Misaki is defanged and clearly flat out positive for Satou despite what the story tries to convey. Manga Misaki is a more complex character and comes with all the happiness and difficulty that dating a BPD girl would bring. It's rather exaggerated because the manga has a tone like that, but the changes drive the themes way better than the anime does. People shit on manga Misaki for her flaws but that's the point, she's both an angel and extremely flawed, that's why her relationship with Satou is so bittersweet. I also love that the ending of the manga doesn't show wageslavery as liberating. It's very sobering in general. Despite how over the top it is I find it more mature.
