Can a baka gaijin foreigner from an anglophone country get a job in Japan as a manga if he knows Japanese or is it just an empty dream?
>>287669088Yes, you and anyone else here can. Keep an eye out for international manga contests, like the Silent Manga Award or the Kyushu International Manga Award from Coamix. Kodansha has also just announced an international contest, and they've already said they're opening their doors to foreign authors.https://manga-academy.kodansha.com/award/mangaka-discovery/

>>287669088Is there any valid reason you can’t get a job making comics in your own country?
There are a handful of Korean mangaka, and probably a decent amount more than that who are foreigners of some variety published under a pen name. It's not impossible, but it's an uphill fucking battle.
>>287669088Not an empty dream but with a culture like that your odds pretty much are the same as being a successful musician or actor. The drawing porn to manga pipeline has worked before though.
>>287669383>uphill fucking battlethe barrier is being fluent in japanese enough to tell your story
>>287669427>The drawing porn to manga pipeline has worked before though. It's one of the most consistent ways of breaking into the industry, if anything.
>>287669088DC/Marvel already have dozens of japanese artists doing art and variant covers, why is the other way around so taboo?
