Trying to imitate SHAFT style automatically makes your anime more interesting and Oishi's style probably has the best visual aesthetics when you discard the time dependent stuff and focus purely on what's drawn, so I applaud it. But it's precisely because of that that I don't think the off model animation added anything to such a style. Also the Monogatari style backgrounds for the intertitles simply don't fit the aesthetics of this show, and a different looking background should have been used.Also this part is more subjective, but one of my favourite parts of SHAFT's style are the trippy backgrounds and how they evolve as the episode continues, so i gotta say for this season I preferred NGO to this.Episode was still good though.

God this episode was PAINFUL to watch through with all the visual RAPE and characters acting and moving 300% wackier than in the past episodes.I liked this anime and considered it as AOTS potential because the atmosphere and art style had this chill and sensual vibe that suited Kamiina's drunken femme fatale's persona a lot. This episode might be the most disappointing thing I've witnessed this year. The art was so distracting that it was impossible to focus on what was happening. Part of me wants to believe that we somehow got an unfinished version and that perhaps the people praising it watched a version with more than half a frame per second. Not that I didn't appreciate a few shots.Content-wise a great episode, but it's no longer my anime of the season.
