Cool episode. The show has definitely established its own identity from being an Inuyasha clone.This little fucker is my favorite character so far.
Nanoka makes this hand gesture in this episode and the preview for the next episode, but I should note that she never does it in the manga as far as I'm aware (nor does anyone else)

I love seeing Mao do his thing with voice and animation. I've always found him a cool character, but now you can really tell when he's playing it up and being a little smug. Or as kids these days call it, aura farming.

My understanding of the manga is that since MAO is a dark fantasy series, Rumiko intentionally toned down the humor significantly (hence the loss of her trademark hand gesture). None of the characters have any personality and every episode feels like a recycled, worse Inuyasha so far. Does it get better? I'm surprised by how bland it is. The mangaka's pedigree is too high for this to feel so lethargic.
