The dynamic is that both Asa and Denji desire the idealized version of each other, while being fully capable of loving each other as themselves, but they can't accept their own identity so they're inherently left chasing after a relationship that doesn't involve them. For Denji, be it Asa, Yoru, Power, Nayuta, or Makima, it's about what he recieves in the relationship, not what he provides, infact he's incapable of seeing past himself. Even in the final fight against Makima, Pochita has to ask if Makima intends to erase shitty movies from existence, it's the question asking about if Makima can accept Denji into her paradise, and when the answer is no, only then he decided to fight again. With Yoru it's far more impulsive, she genuinely doesn't understand or care, it's all about what she feels, and the only one suffering is Asa because her existence is being turned into a horror film, and the worst part is Asa is so beaten down she feels like she deserves it, being punished, she gave up her life trying to save Denji. And in return Asa is told to deny her existence so the person she loves can be happy. Asa is seeking someone who can make her feel like her actions have an effect on them, she's only interested in Denji after he says she acts funny, her self esteem is so down a response like that is enough for Asa to start seeing Denji as someone how acknowledged her efforts, that's her love language, and to deny Asa if that is the greatest torture Fuji put together, by making Asa's emotions expressed through Yoru's impulsive actions, Asa's value for her life lowers constantly.
