I stopped reading as soon as I saw Eden. And just started skipping pages looking for non-Eden content. Not a single thing from Twilight at all this chapter.

Never underestimate Endo's ability to refuse to elaborate on crucial Twilight information. The man had a breakdown last chapter unlike anything we've seen before in this series, but that also goes on the backburner like the rest. Twilight will be completely fine and his work will be unaffected until next year when it's brought up again.

>>
>>287716795
It depends, sometimes when an arc happens and we get a chapter at Eden afterward, there is still a chance it goes back to the Forgers' point of view, like in the dog or cruise arcs. Here it feels like Axeman just did a lighthearted bit that was based on the arc but not actually a part of it.
>>
>>287716706
I started skimming when it stayed with Becky and Anya. I like their friendship and would much rather have that than Anya's standard school fare, but that wasn't what I wanted from this chapter.

>>287716772
If we don't get a continuation next chapter, and I feel like we probably won't, then this was a mid-tier arc. Most of it was really good, but Axeman didn't quite stick the landing, which hurts it a lot.

Really? I feel like it did more for the main characters than most arcs, and even getting Loid to mentally break down like he did was new. Plus it finally gave an actual hint that Loid's feelings towards Yor are romantic in nature and go beyond just platonic fondness.

No change on my end. You seem to be under the impression that we think Shopkeeper eats babies or dreams of world domination. It's not like that. Compare WISE and Garden. WISE forced Loid to join under threat of imprisonment and has generally not treated him well, but his superiors clearly care about him. Yor's circumstances are hazy, but she was at minimum exploited. Shopkeeper "raised" her, and she and the other pruners are now grossly subservient to him. Yor did not contest Hemlock's assertion that they were merely his tools, nor McMahon's similar statement 60 chapters prior. Never mind that after decades of loyalty, Shopkeeper is allowed to just kill them if they displease him and they still think the world of him.

Shopkeeper is arguably good for Ostania and possibly even Westalis, but he's a major antagonist on a personal level. His relationship with the pruners reeks of conditioning with at least the younger ones deeply under his thrall. As far as the Forgers go, he's done terrible damage to Yor and remains an active threat to both her and Loid's lives. Anya likely isn't safe either if she's perceived to be in the way. As a member of Garden, he also has the power to back this up.
>>
>>287718227
Recall that they have SSS agents who patrol the TV station just in case they need to censor someone, and it's only been a few years since they allowed any non-government programming.

She says "たくしーかめししょう (Takushiikameshishou)" in the original and the image is labeled "タキシード亀師匠 (Tuxedo Kame-Shishou)". Tuxedo Mask is called "Tuxedo Kamen" in the original, so it's a pun on Kamen/Mask and Kame/Turtle, and the master title at the end makes it clear it's poking fun at Master Roshi.
>>
>>287718421
I meant that it more touches on their actual personal lives of the masses. A lot of the darkness of the setting is buffered by Anya living with the rich kids, lol.

I like what it did for the characters, especially Loid. I just feel like the structure fell apart at the end, which won't make it a fun arc to reread. I'm also really disappointed that Loid is getting off without having to confront his feelings again. I feel blueballed. He was right there!
If it comes up again in the coming chapters like how Yor couldn't stop talking about being in love with Loid after she realized it, then I'll feel differently.

I felt like that more for the mole arc, not so much here. The comedic setup and character interactions made it fun on its own, and I still think 130 is one of the funniest chapters Axeman has ever put out.
But Loid actually having his mission justification clash with the reality of what he did for Yor was more than what we got from the mole arc, where he worked backwards from his wrong conclusion with no awareness of his feelings at all. And Yuri begrudgingly accepting Loid as Yor's husband was another addition to their dynamic as opposed to the fake out of him suspecting Loid of being Twilight. So it feels less like blueballing and more like Axeman starting to pick up his feet again after being at a long standstill. Plus I don't expect Loid to gain full awareness so quickly after Yor only just realized her own feelings.

Ah, that's kinda funny. "Lindenstraße" (linden street) was the first German soap opera, that ran from 1985 to 2020. I very much doubt this is a coincidence. The mangaka has made weird references to German pop culture before, but that's kind of a deep cut.

Are there other characters that describe their loyalty as to the nation or the homeland rather than saying Ostania or Westalis? I noticed that Yor, Hemlock, and Shopkeeper all do it and while Ostania is their nation/homeland, I wonder if it's supposed to be read as a nod to the Mitera empire instead. Would be interesting if they were all Mitera nuts rather than just Shopkeeper.
>>

I think people have forgotten that you don't need to eat babies to do terrible things. The Miteran Empire was formally named in 104 then implied to be the dead empire Garden is loyal to through Shopkeeper's interest in the Miteran Elk and him seguing into a spiel about imperial land afterwards in 115. It's not 100% confirmed, but even the wiki calls it that.

The main character is Loid, and his spying stuff comes up almost all the time. The extended cast of characters revolves around his ploy, but ultimately it turns it into a character driven manga. It's called "Spy x Family" and not "Spy x Assassin x Esper". Yor and Anya just happen to have weird backstories aswell.

Anya is the face and mascot of the series and even Jump+ because she's a silly child who makes funny faces. The anime showrunners love her and the fact that she's popular, so they center most of the promotional material around her, and the author has admitted that chapters revolving around her at school are low effort and easy to churn out, so he does. Even though Loid just won the first popularity poll, everyone conducting it was surprised because they thought that Anya would take first.
She has a lot of things working in her favor, but even the series synopsis clearly shows that Loid is the protagonist and that it's ultimately his story.

I was reading it on the mangaplus site, and as soon as I hit page 3 I instinctively just kept scrolling. Sadly I hit the end of the chapter because there was nothing good to be seen.

Last arc ended on a wet fart with how quickly and cleanly it ended, and today's was worthless. And I mean that sincerely.
Twilight still emotionally constipated since he's not allowed to think and connect the dots (which is bad writing btw), Yor still thinks he's just being nice and nothing more, and Yuri will likely go back to hating Loid's guts despite the fist bump truce.

Seems like only Yor is allowed to have a revelation and have it immediately come up again the next chapter. Like she said she loved her husband back in 120, and we just kept getting reminded that she does because it didn't go away. Casual conversations for her now took that into account. Other characters should be allowed to change like that too but Axeman refuses to do it.

Despite how absurdly iconic Anya is, it doesn't translate to in-fandom popularity. She loses to both parents on chapter engagement, Japanese chapter views*, and total English fanfiction and loses to Yor on English chapter views* and total fanart. The one place she does take the crown is Japanese fanfiction interestingly. *Her chapters don't underperform. They just rarely overperform.
She frequently wins polls so there's obviously passionate Anyafags out there, but they don't really engage with the manga otherwise.

I remember some Korean fans pointing this out a couple days ago, but Sharon Seager and Camilla Corrigan seems like it's right.
I feel like this last arc was still pretty good overall in a vacuum. As a continuation of what's happened so far, it's painfully slow, but I would still put it above at least half of the other arcs for at least internally nudging the characters in the right direction.
>Twilight still emotionally constipated since he's not allowed to think and connect the dots (which is bad writing btw)
He started to connect the dots. This arc confirms that he sincerely, unironically, fully believes that all of his actions are done for his mission, without exception. He has never believed he was acting on his own sentimental emotions, so he didn't think he was lying to Nightfall about sparing Yuri for Strix, etc. But it is bad writing that it took over 130 chapters for him to reach that point.
>Yor still thinks he's just being nice and nothing more,
Last time she asked for a direct answer from him, he framed it as being considerate of her. She briefly did realize he cared more than that the same way Loid did in the tennis arc, but convinced herself it was wishful thinking because he's never shown interest before.
>Yuri will likely go back to hating Loid's guts despite the fist bump truce.
Yuri never stopped hating him, he's just toned down his antagonism because Loid dying would make Yor sad. He still vacillates between Chrisposting and cockblocking in the arc because he can't accept Loid himself on an instinctual level yet.

Twilight has been characterized as someone who overthinks. To his benefit and detriment.
But, for whatever asinine reason Axeman never follows up on him thinking about his problems at home.

>thinks to himself that Yor throws him off his game when she kicks him unconscious
This moment is not brought up again and life continues as normal for all of them
>makes a mistake during the mole arc that almost cost him his life
No changes in his behavior towards Yor and nothing suggests he's doing anything different to fix it. Not even any side missions that show him getting sloppy or moments that show him being more professional than usual
>gives the wrong answer to Yor's question and her behavior confuses him so much that his Handler notices
Says he'll do something about it but he needs to learn more about Yor (still waiting on more than just omurice jokes)
>steps in front of a gun for Yor and goes above and beyond for her sake as soon as she looks genuinely troubled
He starts break once he realizes it's contradictory to consider what he did as "For the Mission", but then the brakes are slammed and the next time we see him it's as if it never happened.

The constant stalling is my problem with it and why I think it's bad writing. Twilight is not allowed to address his problems simply because the author doesn't want to. Everything that is bothering Twilight is added to a "To do" list and these problems also don't seem to impact his behavior or regular work either. Like he was sloppy after mole arc but there was no mountains training for him like there was for Fiona. If he got over it then it was off-panel when we should have seen him working through it.

You can say that it's interesting that his mindset was painting everything as part of the mission, and I agree with that, but this particular moment does not belong on the list of things that Twilight will think about later. It shouldn't be business as usual for him right now.

To be fair on this one, the next time we see him is a single panel at the end of the chapter. It's a little early to say it's like it never happened, but it's fair to say it's likely to turn out that way with how it's been in the past. I'm still hoping there's a follow up considering how short this chapter was. Even if it's not necessarily part of the arc, give us something. Maybe that double date with Hemlock and Millie. He can stew during that when Hemlock gets on his case. Or Yor's case.

This is what people thought would happen with Yor's realization, but she was immediately changed by it going forward. Even though mole arc didn't impact Loid the way people originally thought, he did keep it in mind, just with the wrong reasoning. Now he's becoming aware that it's his own emotions getting the better of him and that his mission objectives aren't perfectly aligned with his actions anymore. Really the worst part about this is that it's starting so far into the story.

It came off more as Garden biding their time to find a good opportunity to get rid of him. In fact, McMahon's words make it unclear if Garden had some kind of hand in forcing him to step down.
Garden seems to just be cautious in what jobs they actually carry out despite all the open corruption in Ostania. If a paramilitary organization actually started taking out politicians left and right, they'd risk destabilizing the country and losing their own connections to the current government.

>Also, what are we calling this one? Studio arc?
Axeman himself called it the "TV Island arc" when he said it ended a couple weeks ago, so maybe just TV station or broadcast arc or something.
It is kind of disappointing how little Wheeler arc mattered, but I feel like the writing was on the wall for that one right after it wrapped up. Fiona's injuries weren't serious or noteworthy, Yuri tricked himself out of suspecting Loid as Twilight, and Loid pinned Wheeler as the problem but not Yuri. In hindsight, it feels like Axeman aborted the arc, but it makes sense why he said that only a single door had been opened for Loid at that time. He wavered due to emotion during a deadly mission, but had no awareness of it at all.

No, it wasn't. The next volume is going to start with the beginning of the arc at 128. Even if you added the pages in from today's chapter, that's only 104 pages, which is barely half the length of a volume.
This chapter was a breather but not what people were looking for after the arc. There are other characters that haven't been on the cover yet that he could focus on next. Hemlock keeps showing up so we might get a chapter about him, and Chloe was mentioned a few times so there's a chance she gets a chapter. Or we could go back to the Desmonds or Authens so one of those associated characters could be on the cover. Axeman's only halfway in so there's no telling what he'll write about next.

>Hemlock keeps showing up so we might get a chapter about him

It feels like something that can be a short chapter, and Schlag got on the cover partly because of that. We're halfway in the volume and there are plenty of other lines waiting, like Melinda's therapy, the school investigation, or Siggy's reaction to Anya. The school investigation? Really? What's open about that? You mean with the SSS? Yuri's line doesn't seem like a teased plotline to me, just an observation. Axeman could make a standalone out of Yuri exploring the school for sure, but I don't think we're supposed to expect that. The scandal arc was pretty self-contained.
>or Siggy's reaction to Anya
This one is definitely still open, but this is so major and with such immediate consequences that I don't expect to see anything substantial until fourth quarter. Authen's dementia is Axeman's cheat code to putting it off as long as he wants to.

>The school investigation? Really? What's open about that?
They purged a lot of teachers who were part of the conspiracy and had to make a public statement about it. The purge and precarious reputation of the school might also all the SSS to install plants for their own purposes.

Strix itself is what's scrambling Twilight's brain and preventing him from realizing he wants that Yor's yussy.
>>
I hope Yor dies and then Loid finishes his mission and he sends anya back to the orphenage and she dies there alone
>>
This chapter was a disappointing nothingburger compared to the great chapter we had last time.

I just reread 127.2 because I figured I had to be missing something. You're talking about pic related, right? I think you're reading too deeply into this. It's not presented as something to be continued anymore than the underworld power disputes were in the cruise arc. Or what's going to happen to our terrorist friends now that they've surrendered to SSS custody. It's just world building. There are other stories happening throughout the world of Spy x Family, but they don't relate closely enough to the main plot to see them play out. They're topics Axeman could use, but I would not have expectations that he definitely will.

I didn't mean to make it into a point he has to address, though I see that it looks like that by grouping it with the Authens. I listed it out because it looked like an opportunity he could take to tie some of the separate storylines together. One of the reasons people get frustrated with SxF is because it feels like all of its parts aren't connected through anything but the Forgers' proximity to each other. I think this is why people wanted Mr. Green to be a double agent for Garden, for example.
If Axeman wanted to, he could take the opportunity to tie one of the SSS characters to Eden, and he'd have already set up a believable reason for it. Yuri was blocked from getting too close in the bus arc because he's related to Anya, but Chloe isn't doing much outside of being his satellite, for example. We're already getting a bit more connection between Donovan and Anya through Authen, so I don't want to discount any other ways he might try tying the story together.

And now we have to wait another two weeks
Assuming Axeman doesn't cop out

Loid's blindspot for Yor is comical.
I hope Yor gets another assassination mission.
Shame they can't do Red vs Blue or Red and Blue vs Yellow as easily as they can with Twilight/Yor's borther.

Loid has the most interesting chapters because every interaction with him is a
>will he be exposed
situation, or you get stuff where Anya reads the future seeing Dog's mind and has to prevent Loid's early death (love that chapter).

They're not thinking about the overall plan, they just want Loid and Yor to fuck regardless of the plot, but that's what the doujins are for.

People constantly swap between names for arcs like Bond/dog, boat/cruise, Wheeler/mole, etc. As long as people know which arc it's referring to, calling it the TV arc or broadcast arc is fine.
