>>287719166Suddenly Tenkyu. Done. Suzuki you know what I'm going to ask, don't you?
>>287719204Wow something interesting actually happened
>>287719204World's Strongest Gambler takes the cover of Vol. 27.
>>287719204Real talk, does everyone give a shit about this series anymore? It used to be talked about a lot back in the old days. So what happened anyway? Was it because it was too much people fight?
>>287719671Slur's backstory didn't match the hype, and interest started waning after takamura was offed
>>287719710I think people overall didn't care for the civilian killers arc either
>>287719671Actually watching people fighting is the only aspect that's still good in this series. Best fights in shonen comics ever for me.The problem is that the author seems only capable of writing thin paper plots with no clear direction of where they're going to land. He had some luck with improvising developments for the story up to the Museum Arc but that streak didn't last forever..
>>287719671Few of the characters have interesting motivations or dynamics with each other. Shishiba and Yotsumura was like the only time there was anything slightly interesting between characters. Sakamoto's entourage entirely consists of people who just want to help Sakamoto and not much else. Slur's entourage entirely consists of people who just want to help Slur and not much else. The Order just does whatever until most of them became villains of the week. Akao is the niece of Rion, one of the characters partially responsible for setting this whole thing in motion, and she's had fuck all to do besides get stomped by Slur after bizarrely staying by his side for 100s of chapters. As it stands the entire manga is just a vehicle to move from one fight to the next with some weak connective tissue for justification. The fights haven't even been as good as the start of the manga either. Most people hopped on board for fat Sakamoto Jackie Chan fight improv on steroids and that's just taken a back seat for everybody else to have 8-9 chapter fights. Feels like Suzuki bought into the popularity polls and decided to sideline the titular character for the pretty boys that fujos love.
>>287719671It's just completely out of gas at this point. Story never went anywhere interesting, anime sucked so no chance of it suddenly hitting it big and attracting a wave of new fans, and now it's almost completely wrapped up, without any real hype behind it. The only thing left to do with Sakamoto is wait for it to officially die, with a whimper. Good action (mostly) but failed in every other aspect.
>>287719204Kek I thought it was gonna be Heisuke
>>287719671Good fights can only carry you so far, after dragging for so long you have to make the characters and plot interesting, but suzuki did neither of them>>287719204I don't even care about fucking tenkyu of all to suddenly make a big entrance, I didn't even remembered he was one of the good guys now
>>287719204Oh, Jiji is back.In all seriousness, finally a character I find entertaining is on page again. Let's see.
>>287719204ok, now is Lu's turn
People fought this week too. I wonder what will happen next week.
>>287719671When I started it, it was a SoL with action and some serious arcs. It had a Gintama-like feel that I liked. But it started to get more serious, while the writing got worse. Sidelined characters, power-ups for no reason, fights that never end, unnecessary arcs... the antagonist isn't interesting; he's literally a child in an adult's body, much worse than that. Although the fight choreography and artwork don't seem to have worsened, the series has become just that, and there's no point in continuing to read it
>>287719671It really depends which people are fighting. Like zappy dan sucked, every moment with him was a chore.
>>287719204Here's hoping for Apart's surprise appearance.
>>287719671When it started to become fate of the world bullshit is when I stopped caring. I think it needed a tournament arc or something before they dragged out the overthrowing the assassins guild arc
>>287719123>>287719166>>287719204It's a shame when a cast gets so bloated that random saves like this deflate all tension.
>>287719204What was that guy's motivation again? He was super strong and Shen convinced him not to kill people? Or something? No Shen tricked him into thinking he was someone he knew? It's been a while
>>287719204right, this guy, but WHY is he at the JCC of all places?
>>287723423That's where all the fights are.
>>287723831No? Sakamoto didn't make it there. Some fights happened their escape and people got scattered all over the place.
>>287723981Well, that's where ONE fight is then.
>>287719671i was already losing interest but takemura dying permanently set me in "just coarsing through until it finally ends". the tunnel effect also permanently removed any sense of stakes.>>287720713the problem is that sakamoto's goal is basically "i want to live a quiet life". none of the plot would've happened had they left sakamoto alone basically. the villain's goal is also nebulous and more of an excuse.
>>287718455Awesome spread but where's the rest of the list
>>287719256Torres is easily the coolest of the new antagonists
>>287722364who the fuck is shen
>>287725025>none of the plot would've happened had they left sakamoto alone basicallyThis is the funniest bit because Slur basically schizo'd himself into setting forth the demise of his own plan by having his Rion personality put the bounty on Sakamoto.
>>287725598oh right, i forgot that was a plot point

>>287720734I think this series will not have any staying power after it finishes. I don't recall any memorable characters or scenes besides the old man slicing the tower or anything like that.Come to think of it, it doesn't have any cool and memorable techniques or special moves like in another series like JJK or MHA.
>>287719671As other anons pointed out: not a single interesting thing has happened since Takamura died and thats why the threads died. There's nothing to talk about. I come back every week to check out the new chapter, people fight, and then I move on thats it. The worst part is the "people" fighting in this arc have been 90% literalwho's which makes people less engaged in the story, because all the characters people care about and want to see have been sidelined for one-note jobbers who we know arent going to do anything to shift the narrative.
>shiina does nothing but job and talk shit
>>287719204I had some hope for the big brother and little sister but they're just punching bags.>Tenkyu killstealing an injured combatant
>>287725821The only Sakamoto fight is a top 10 one and it's in the first chapter. That's so sad.
>>287719204Thank you for posting.
>>287719671I'm just here to see this finally end, though my enjoyment has been significantly reduced> So what happened anyway?A really really REALLY fucking bad villain, with an absolutely DOGSHIT villain squad (Director notwithstanding) and an absolutely retarded plan and motivation. He also killed one of the best spectacle characters to boost his threat and make him "cool", but that made everyone hate him more
>>287720713The JAA leaders plan to turn Japan into Assassin Outer Haven is the only thing close to a coherent motivation this manga has had and the motherfucker is a simple mid boss
>>287726732Big bro is doing alright if it will take someone like Tenkyu to beat him. He 1v2'd the brothers relatively easy. The little sis is the one who is just deadweight.
>>287719204I actually liked this sibling 2 v. 2 match-up quite a bit, much nicer than the electro-bro bullshit fight we had for what felt like a year. I thought bow and arrow bro jobbed already, but I'm interested in seeing what he brings to the table now, thanks for dumping.
>>287719671It's a good fight series but slurs backstory wasn't that great and this stuff that followed hasn't been as good as the stuff from the start. I think Suzuki was forced to put the SoL on hold to keep the fightfags alive in WSJ with JJK ending.
>>287730487I would prefer if Suzuki focused on SoL more than action.
>>287720297Didn't help that the civilian killers arc involved a lot of questionable directions in the plot> The previously hyped up final boss is suddenly one-shotted for no reason> The interesting three-way between Sakamoto, JAA, and Slur's gang is reduced into a more conventional good guys vs bad guys set-up> Civilians went from being completely accustomed to assassin shenanigans happening in public to "Actually, the civilians didn't know about the assassins despite all the collateral damage they experience and public hirings and events the JAA does, and the civilians are are horrified about it!"
>>287719204another fighter in this match with people
>>287720713>after bizarrely staying by his side for 100s of chapters. That was such bullshit:>I'm gonna kill X>Noo, you can't kill people >actually no, I won't kill him because he is "possessed" by my Aunt>giving people guns and getting 300k people dead was not fun >100 chapters of absence>actually killing is wrong, but imma gonna kill you anyway >jobs and gets baled out by Sakamoto
>>287719671I'm completely divorced from caring about the characters anymore and just read the action, so there's nothing to discussThere should have been more SoL shit instead of just non-stop assassin fightsThe villain is also unbearably dull
>>287735603More specifically, you don't hate him enough to want Sakamoto to finish him and you don't like him enough to want Sakamoto to redeem him, you just want it to be done with.
JJK was the only series to do the nonstop fight shit correctly. One of SD strong suits was the SoL balance with the great action. Now it's just great action so things lose their impact
>>287735603this but with me and KGB, I understand KGB's plot the same as I do with sakamoto's and it is inarguably better in that department, but the kino art and atmosphere is what keeps me coming back. With SD, I'm mostly just crossing my fingers each week it goes back to being zanny gintama john wick on steroids.
>>287730487SoL ended around like chapter 30 tho
>>287735660>great actionMore boring action because slice of life comedy was the only thing it had to offer, and now it's gone.
