It had like 100+ Volumes Manga series.
How many of these classics are we missing? Like everytime I look at an Ova I find it had a super long Manga or Novel

>How many of these classics are we missing?
Too many. And I can't even find some things raw.

Jingoku Sensei Nube got two different TV series, 3 OVAs and 3 original movies and still has over 100 untranslated chapters on every major site
>>
>>287731086
The film is perfect already
>>

i've got a huge collection of original Locke manga. there are a shitton of series, and they're really great.
Sadly Hijiri san changed publishers. At the time of his death in 2022 I remember he was publishing two series in two separate magazines.
pic related is my favorite version of the heart of the series. the Comic Burger edition of the Shonen King run
this edition has some "filler" text descriptions of chapters ad stories they couldn't reprint from the 1968-1979 period. No idea if those are even in print.
Wildly underrated series that will someday hopefully be recognized.

More than 100 chapters, you forgot the sequels and spin-offs

Where do you fags even look?

Is the manga episodic or is it a long continuous story? And why does mangaupdates mention only 37 volumes + 7 volumes for the sequel.

https://www.mangaupdates.com/series/gixbhhc/choujin-locke
>>
>>287733036
Mangaupdates is mainly intended to catalogue fan translations. Any information on untranslated content is spurious at best. The list more Locke on the author's page.
https://www.mangaupdates.com/author/ghjjabi/hijiri-yuki
Wikipedia has a chronology of the dated series
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/超人ロック#ストーリー
As you can see the releases were completely all over the place with some longer story arcs and many standalone series.
>>
>>287733036
it's kind of like an anthology series where each time Locke appears in (largely) someone else's story
But there is a complex interleaved chronology about the fall and rise of a galactic federation that unites the series.
>>
>>287733036
manga updates looks like it's just all over the place
the english wiki is better
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locke_the_Superman
what they list as the Shonen King series (tiger of the flames onward) is the centerpiece. Truly great. Series becomes a bit repetitive after that.
I've never seen it remarked upon but the early Shirow Masamune (black magic) was plainly aping the series. Extremely influential.

too many
nobody wants to translate long series like Golgo 13 or KochiKame despite their popularity
Galaxy Express 999 scanlation is dead
Cyborg 009 license got dropped and the scanlation is dead
most Kazuo Kamimura like Dousei Jidai have no English translation
a lot of classic shoujo with popular anime adaptations aren't translated either
>>
>>287731086
Shin-Chan is a big one
GeGeGe no Kitaro has two official translations but they're missing like 10 chapters for some reason

If we can get Kinnikuman and Sukeban Deka. We can get translations for Cyborg 009 and Galaxy Express 999

>Shin-Chan
At least the Anime and the movies are getting subs. I really need all the movies in just 1 torrent with great subs. /a/ should really watch the Doraemon and Shinchan movies they are excellent
>>
>>287734981
>GeGeGe no Kitaro
This one I really need it. Some of the spin-offs and anime are getting subs very slowly. The recent series and movies were great
>>
>>287734981
>GeGeGe no Kitaro
I just check and is nobody uploading the new subs for Kitarou!? on nyaaa!?

I'm gonna lose it. Why we don't have more Papa told me translations? Literally a masterpiece but 0 interest from the genera public
>>
>>287736753
When you're that deep in the rabbit hole one has to ask why you don't translate them yourself.

Talking about old series, do you guys remember Arata? The author made an entire reboot of the series and created a whole new story

I always wonder why we don't have a modern remake a la Astro Boy for Tetsujin 28?
>>
>>287744200
But it did.
>>
>>287744836
That is not Tetsujin 28, that is Giant Robot
>>
>>287745058
But Tetsujin also had a remake in 2004. I actually misread the for as or because GR isn't as well known in comparison to the 90s OVA or the Tetsujin remake.
>>
>>287745123
>Tetsujin also had a remake
What is this bullshit!?
>>
>>287731086
all these fags seething over lack of le "scanlations" (what redditors call translations)
most manga are written for children and barely literal adults. it's simple japanese.
just learn it faggits. seriously. but plainly that's too much work and might cut into your masturbation time

>their first instinct is to pay for it

/a/ is really in gutter
>>
>>287749108
When was /a/ ever opposed to supporting the industry?
Fifteen or twenty years ago anons wished it would be as easy as it is now.
Takahashi Yousuke is still active as an author. If you like his work you should pay for it.
>>
>>287734936
Consecuences of not dubbing and licecing those manga-animes, its way easier to get the script from the original companies than wasting time on translations and doing fan scanlations. fucking dragon ball, the most famous shonen slop, is almost longer as golgo 13 and kochikame, and it has a lot of scanlations for irrelevant shit like film animation adaptations to manga

Yes, PAY FOR IT. We are not kids. We are adults. I can drink Alcohold

That's the 90s remake. Not to be confused with the 80s remake (pic related). The 2004 remake is really good. It's directed by Imagawa, the same guy who did the Giant Robo OVA.
