>isekai fantasy>the isekai'd don't remember they were isekai'dWhat is the point exactly?
Tick an advertising/marketing check box. Just pretend it's standard fantasy and go from there.
>>287773180who knows. they at least pulled it off better in Grimgar. this shit would have been better without that waste of a plot point.
>>287773304I quite enjoyed it. I'll be shocked if it ever gets a second season tho.
>>287773180Japanese audiences will kill themselves if they can't self insert in a show.
>>287773180The same reason companies would slap “blockchain” onto every new software release ten years ago. Retards buy based on the label. Accuracy and quality are irrelevant.
>>287773180*sniff*
the only good isekai
>>287773531But this thread isn't about kemono michi, or if you expand the definition a bit combatants will be dispatched
>>287773531This was a Sony Music slideshow advertisement with a great archer buttthe ultragrim HAHA WE KILLED A CHARACTER YOU LIKED AGAIN shit got old fast
>>287773976>combatants will be dispatched"We have Konosuba at home."
>>287773180It's just a normal fantasy but they have to trick isekai dumbasses into watching
>>287773180I dropped this after the second episode, after it became clear the one guy was whoring his anus out for money. Does it ever get good?
>>287773180that show was fun. kinda weird that they didn't make a second season. The LN was relatively popular i believe
>>287773180Native isekai?
>>287773531KonoSuba, Re:Zero, Inuyasha, Mao, Who Made Me a Princess, and I'm in Love With the Villainess disagree
>>287775460lol no
>>287773180The ending was kinda eh and the plot moved at a glacial pace but it was fun. I don't think i've ever seen a better depiction of painfully mediocre people.
>>287773180Why was there never a season 2?
>>287775594Spoil it for me
>>287773531I agree. The "realistic" approach to fighting monsters is similar to Goblin Slayer. I wish there was more of it in anime, rather than OP characters.
>>287775646>"realistic" approach to fighting monstersThis is the most memorable part for me, I agree there should be more anime that consider the stress of actually ending a sentient creature's life.
>>287773180Neither the anime nor manga got to the one volume where that plot point was actually important, unfortunately. The first several volumes of Grimgar are very good, but it goes down hill pretty hard thanks in no small part to the author very obviously having no idea what he actually wanted to do with the story. I'd still recommend volumes 1-7 pretty highly though. At least I think that's the ones I'm thinking of.
>>287773180It does the legwork of establishing that the protagonists are fish out of water without having to invent multiple reasons why half a dozen completely inept people formed an adventuring party together.
>>287773180pic not related? They are aware that the world is not right and that they lost most of their memories.>>287775637People die whent they are killed. Well, most of the time.
>>287773531Real.
>>287775488Lol yeah
>>287775637Shitters get sent to another world but they have amnesia so nobody cares. The leftover rejects party up and go spend a couple weeks getting dabbed on by goblins. Eventually they start actually getting decent at killing and them, only to become overconfident and have their leader/priest die horribly because he didn't gatekeep heals hard enough and was oom. They get a replacement and angst at each other for a bit until they get in the swing of things and go kill the goblins that got their leader. Then there's a bit where they go fight kobolds and after some drama the protagonist one shots their big ass leader because he can see the thread of fate or some such bullshit. Anime ends there, books keep going and have more angst and terrible deaths.
>>287773180Having a grown up cast that has the same knowledge as the reader, thus allowing them to explore the world and its intricacies together.
>>287773180i will watch for that ass
>>287773180god I fucking loved how slow the first half of the Grimgar anime was, one of the few fantasy series that are exactly what I want from the genreif I were to ever write an isekai it would be even sloweran entire season to finish their first quest10 volumes to go from G-rank to F-rank50 pages just for a herb gathering quest
It's a twist
>>287773180>What is the point exactly?Learning about new things together with the reader.Grimgar was so damn good. Nice and slow, character-focused, with great music. I wish we'd get another season.
Grimgar being so unpopular and getting axed after one season is when I realised my tastes had changed too much to fit in with most anime watchers and I slowly drifted away from watching anime. Perhaps I got old. I dunno.
>>287773180well natives are very well aware of filthy isekaijinsand treat them accordinglythey just sent them out as child soldiers on thefront lines and they are barred from getting normal jobs and integrating in that town, since they need meatshields not regular citizensso basically the story kicks off because the characters are isekaid, not just regularsor maybe the natives dont really understand isekai process, but only know that the mc and co are aliensi would have to rewatch it, its in the first ep tbf, anyone can double check
>>287778204>because he can see the thread of fate or some such bullshitmore like the "skills" and "jobs" have a bit of game mechanics, since they pay to learn them, additional skills, like special swings, moves, magic etcthe mc basically gets a crit "pop-up" when he hallucinates those threads to trail his weapon overits much better done than the regular chanting, status screen bullshit
>>287778660thisthe trail is like a visual hint in a videogame, the usefuless is entirely up to the user's actual skill and ability
>>287773180I think it's really stupid to set up a mystery about why all these people are here and what's causing their memories to go and then never come back to it.
>>287778781I think so too, thankfully it's explained at the beginning of the story so this doesn't happen here
>>287773180Grimgar is built on "I'm subverting therefore its good". It's not about making sense.
>>287778781It gets weird later, they get their memories wiped several times and they travel between different worlds. If I remember correctly, Mary - the blue-haired, cool cleric - is the main love interest. She dies and is resurrected, but then becomes the Demon King. She starts turning the dead into their undead soldiers, and Shiori (the mage) ends up becoming a living, brainwashed weapon that kills on command. Also, the sexy rogue trainer dies, and is chopped up by orcs. Ranta unfortunately does not, and if I recall correctly has a child with Yumi.
>>287778934nooooo best girl and worst guy, of course
>>287778934Oh lovely, so the character everyone hates gets with the fan favorite and ends up the last man standing Maybe we lucked out by not getting that second season.
>>287778949In Vol. 20, LITERALLY EVERYONE DIES except Haruto and there's a 100-year time skip. The new protagonist is apparently Manato, who isn't the dead priest, but a boy with the same name. Haruto hasn't aged. The carnage happens because the Gods are unsealed, which means that all Paladins and Clerics go on killing sprees. Fortunately, Ranta *is* killed by Haruto before he goes insane.

>>287773531it's probably one of the worst isekais that's actually just a melodrama series pretending to be an isekai
>>287773180the little bit of guitar either in the ED or at the half point of the episode I cant quite remember was so sexy
>>287778438>>i will watch for that assShe's the highlight of the show, the only one with a personality.>>287778591>Grimgar being so unpopularWhile it has it's strong points It's just not a great story and the acting/directing is kinda weak. I feel like it's just another franchise of wasted potential.
>>287778660Oh i completely agree, it's a 1000% better then menu screens and magic pentagrams, just awfully convenient that they hadn't shown anything like it before and it happened just when he needed.
>>287779018>LITERALLY EVERYONE DIES
>>287780689IIRC his thief instructor with the fat ass tells him it's a normal thief skill but I can't remember if thats before it's introduced in the fight
